Kids go crazy for the Cave of Lascaux story! If you have a 2nd or 3rd grader you’ve probably heard it in the last two weeks. 😂 They also love to create their own story using symbols and creating their ”signature” by painting their handprint. So fun!

Stuard students claimed 2nd and 3rd place at the Parker County Attorney’s Annual Art Contest this year! Congrats to Reid and Caroline and to all whose artwork was selected. We had a great turnout and I was so proud of our winners who spoke in front of everyone about their art piece. They received a pretty awesome gift basket! Thank you to John Forrest and Lisa Merhoff for hosting this annual event. Thanks for the work you do each and every day, but especially during National Crime Victim’s Rights Week.

Masterpiece of the Week! While these poppies were originally done for Veteran’s Day, this one just returned from the District Art Show and is definitely appropriate for spring! Seeing all the beautiful flowers in bloom right now is my favorite part about this season. 🥰

1st grade created these paintings inspired by Alma Thomas, who was the first African American artist to have her work in the permanent collection at the White House. She became well known for her paintings in her 70s after retiring from her education career. While she gained fame for her colorful artwork, she was quoted as saying, “People always want to cite me for my color paintings, but I would much rather be remembered for helping to lay the foundation of children’s lives”.
