🏡💛 Meet Our 2026 Good Neighbor: Joann Goethe 💛🏡
Some people talk about loving their community. Joann Goethe has spent 30 years showing it.
As a foster parent, Joann has opened her home to more than 80 children. Then she went further and started Fostering Together. It supports foster families and kids in foster care across Pulaski, Laclede, Phelps, and Texas Counties.
There's no paid staff. Not one. Fostering Together is a 501(c)(3) run by Joann and volunteers because they care about these kids.
And if you've enjoyed Freedom Fest, Oktoberfest, or Christmas on the Square in Waynesville, you have Joann to thank for that too. She organizes all three, and she doesn't get paid for any of them.
That's why she's this year's Good Neighbor Award winner. 🏆
And YOU helped us honor her! 🙌
We asked our community to bring donations for Fostering Together's Foster Closet. Twice a month, foster kids can come and pick out whatever they need, completely free. You showed up big. Together we gave Joann about $1,000 worth of clothing, toiletries, and toys. Generous local businesses also donated gift cards for us to give her. Thank you to everyone who gave! 💛
Here's how you can keep being a good neighbor:
Fostering Together still needs help with:
🔧 Repairs to their building
📦 A donation collection bin
Every dollar goes straight to helping local foster kids and the families caring for them.
👉 To donate, email Joann at [email protected]
Please share this so it reaches someone who can help. Thank you, Joann, for showing all of us what being a good neighbor looks like. 💛
A special thank you to Tire Town USA, Market Basket Cafe, Dominoes Pizza, Z Loft Bar & Grill, Rt 66 Taco Company, Hen House, Spartan Gyros, Mu Bahn Thai, el Jimador, Midway Coffee, Tk's Pizza, Star Knight Games, and Downtown Service Station for donating gift cards! You guys are awesome!
