☀️🎉 WEEK 1 = COMPLETE at the Waynesville Rec Center Basecamp! 🎉☀️

What an incredible kickoff to summer camp full of FUN, ENERGY, and nonstop excitement! 💥 From day one, our campers jumped right into the adventure with smiles, teamwork, and memories already in the making!

⭐️ Highlights from Week 1 included:
🌊 Classic Sunburst Water Hole outing to kick off our excursions
💧 Splash-filled water activities all week long
🐛 Themed caterpillar craft creativity shining bright
🚜 Our younger campers enjoying a special trip to Darnell Farms
…and so much more packed into one amazing week!

🎒 We also kicked off the summer in a BIG way by welcoming every camper with a new water bottle and bag—and we’re proud to continue making sure EVERY child receives one this year! A huge thanks to ERX and REACH for helping this become a reality! 💙

🏕️We’re already looking ahead to WEEK 2 with even more excitement, new adventures, and unforgettable moments ahead! 🚀✨

Make a Splash This Summer with Tots Swim Class!

Looking for a fun way to introduce your little one to the water? Our Tots Swim Class is designed for children ages 6 months–4 years and focuses on water comfort, safety, and building confidence in a positive environment.

Session Options:
✅ Tuesdays (July 7, 14, 21, 28) | 10:30–11:00 AM
OR
✅ Fridays (July 10, 17, 24, 31) | 10:30–11:00 AM

💲 Fees
• Town Residents: $100
• Non-Residents: $150

🐾 GRAND OPENING – WAYNESVILLE DOG PARK! 🐾

Join us on Tuesday, June 9 at 5:00 PM as we celebrate the grand opening of Waynesville's new Dog Park!

Designed with both dogs and their owners in mind, the new facility features:

🐶 Separate fenced areas for large and small dogs
⛱️ Shade structures for comfort during warmer days
🌳 Newly planted trees that will continue to grow and provide additional shade for years to come
🪑 Benches throughout the park
💧 Convenient dog watering stations located inside the fenced areas

We would also like to recognize and thank Visit Haywood for their support of this project. The shade structures were funded in part through a grant from Visit Haywood, helping create a more comfortable and welcoming space for residents and visitors to enjoy with their pets.

We are excited to add this new amenity to our parks system and provide a safe, welcoming space for dogs to exercise, socialize, and play.

Following the grand opening ceremony, the dog park will officially open for public use.

🏐 NOW OPEN: Sand Volleyball Courts Relocated & Ready for Play! 🏐
The Town of Waynesville is excited to announce that our sand volleyball courts have officially reopened to the public at their new location!
Following the relocation process, the courts are now ready for community use and we look forward to welcoming players of all ages and skill levels back to the sand. Whether you’re organizing a friendly match, practicing with friends, or just enjoying the outdoors, the new courts provide a great space for recreation and community connection.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and support during the transition and invite the community to come out and enjoy the upgraded location.

🏐 Project Update: Sand Volleyball Courts Relocated!

We’re excited to share that our sand volleyball courts, formerly located above the Recreation Center, have officially been relocated to Rec Park beside Richland Creek on West Marshall Street!

A big thank you to Southern Appalachian Grading & Excavating for their fast and efficient work in getting the new courts ready. 👏

Final touches are underway, and the courts will be open to the public as soon as the nets are installed next week. We can’t wait to see everyone out there enjoying the new space!
