If anyone deserves a whole month of recognition, it’s the team at the Waxahachie Senior Activity Center!

These folks put a lot of time, heart and hard work into serving Waxahachie’s senior community - and they’ve been doing it for a long time. Half of our Senior Center staff have served the City of Waxahachie for 15 years or more! That kind of dedication deserves to be celebrated.

And what they help provide is pretty special. Our 23,000-square-foot Senior Activity Center has been serving the community from its current facility since 2009, offering everything from a fitness room and exercise classes to billiards, ceramics, quilting, games, educational programs, dances, daily lunches and plenty of opportunities to simply spend time with friends.

Know someone in Waxahachie 55 or older? Encourage them to call the Senior Center, stop by for a tour and see what they’ve been missing. It truly is one of the greatest amenities we have for our aging community - and the staff who keep it running are top notch.

🚨 8/29 - SATURDAY MORNING FITNESS UPDATE

Unfortunately, due to a last-minute family emergency, both Saturday Morning Fitness classes this morning are canceled.

We apologize for the last-minute notice and any inconvenience. Our thoughts are with Bluebird Wellness and we look forward to having them back next Saturday!

If you were already planning to get your Saturday workout in, we encourage you to head just down the road to our friends at Shelby Symmetry and take that workout indoors and out of the heat. Stop in, check them out, and support one of the local fitness partners who helps make our free Saturday Morning Fitness program possible! 💪

🏊 LEE PENN PARK POOL | HOURS UPDATE

Due to a staffing shortage, Lee Penn Park Pool will have limited operating days for the remainder of the season. We know this is a last-minute change and apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience it may cause.

The pool will be OPEN:
💦 Sunday, August 30 (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)
💦 Saturday, September 5 (10 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
💦 Sunday, September 6 (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)

The pool will be CLOSED on Labor Day, Monday, September 7.

We know everyone is trying to squeeze in those last few pool days of summer, so please make note of the updated schedule before heading our way!

The Waxahachie Nature Trail is temporarily closed due to work being conducted by Oncor.

We are currently waiting for additional information from Oncor regarding the work and anticipated timeline. We’ll share updates as soon as we receive them.

The restrooms at Boat Dock Park are temporarily closed for maintenance.

Plumbers are already working to get the issue resolved. In the meantime, portable restrooms are available at the park for visitors to use.

In honor of National Dog Day, we’re showing off a few of the pups who belong to our Parks Department employees. They may not officially be on the payroll, but they provide plenty of moral support, after-work greetings, and quality control on all those walks through the Wags-a-Hachie dog park. 🐶🌳

🏃 83 RUNNERS. 3.1 MILES. ONE HOT TEXAS MORNING. ☀️

This past Saturday, Global Race Management brought the Texas Heat 5K to Getzendaner Park, welcoming 83 runners from across the Metroplex to Waxahachie!

We love seeing our parks and trails bring people together, whether it’s for a morning walk, a daily run, or a 5K with friends & visitors from across North Texas.

Thank you to Global Race Management and every runner (and cheering spectator) who participated in the Texas Heat 5K. We hope you enjoyed the trail, and you’re welcome back anytime! 🌳👟

🌳 Park Spotlight: Matthew's Park (501 Harvest Grove Dr.)💦

Matthew's Park, one of Waxahachie's neighborhood parks, is a great spot for families, walkers, and anyone looking to spend a little time outside. Kids can cool off at the splash pad, make a stop at the playground, or enjoy the open space while walkers and runners can take advantage of the half-mile loop around the park.
