Last night we unveiled the custom trophy made by our friend Ed Acord. Here’s the back story:
Ed is completely blind. Ed follows along with our racing, and has came out to enjoy our racing program on occasion. He stopping in a few months ago after the announcement of the 401k race, and asked if it would be ok if he made a trophy for it.
So, Ed set out to build something special. Ed built this entire trophy from scratch, using his own hands. Again, all of this without eyesight. Ed created from memory/recall a scaled version of a sprint car. He also built the complete barn base for the trophy. All the cutting, shaping, scaling, and assembling all from a man’s hands and his mind. Again, all without eyesight.
We got our first look at the trophy last night at the track. It’s an amazing end result coming from approximately 3 months of painstaking patience and effort from Mr. Acord. We are truly excited that this is a part of the 401k Nationals event. We’re grateful to Ed for taking so much time to provide this truly unique award for our Losi 401k champion.
If you were able to see the trophy last night, you may have already given Ed a pat on the back or a thank you. But if not- please make sure you leave a comment to thank him for supporting the 401K Nationals.
