THE FAMILY
A multi-generational musical legacy rooted in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Dylan and James LeBlanc, Angela Hacker, and Bay Simpson bring together generations of Southern songwriting talent, each with an impressive career of their own. Dylan is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter praised by MOJO, Uncut, and NPR. James is a sought-after songwriter and studio musician whose songs have been recorded by Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, and others. Angela, winner of Nashville Star in 2007, has written songs recorded by Candi Staton, John Paul White, and Jason Isbell. Bay, hailed by Americana Highways as “a solo artist to be reckoned with,” has appeared on The Voice and written songs recorded by Kid Rock.

But what truly sets them apart is their shared story. Dylan is James’s son, and Bay is Angela’s. When James and Angela came together, so did their families. The boys grew up side by side, bound by music, songwriting, and a deep Southern heritage.

Dylan LeBlanc, James LeBlanc, Angela Hacker, and Bay Simpson are acclaimed musicians from the famed Muscle Shoals, Alabama area who have each carved out successful careers of their own. Dylan LeBlanc is an internationally renowned singer-songwriter whose work has been praised by MOJO and Uncut, with NPR saying his songs unfold with “the wariness of a social and spiritual outsider who broods his way to graceful defiance”; James is a lifelong songwriter and in-demand studio musician whose songs have been recorded by Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, Travis Tritt, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, and Sara Evans; Angela won the 2007 edition of Nashville Star and her song, “I Ain’t Easy to Love“ was a hit for Candi Staton and has been covered by John Paul White and Jason Isbell; and Bay, touted by Americana Highways as “a solo artist to be reckoned with” recently appeared as an artist on The Voice, performs with the country-rock band Outlaw Apostles, and has successful songwriting credits to his name, including Kid Rock recording his song “Never Enough.”

Beyond their personal accolades, there’s something else that bonds this quartet: they’re family. Dylan is James’ son, and Bay is Angela’s son. James and Angela met when the boys were still young, and they grew up together as musicians and as a family.

The Larry Keel & Jon Stickley Duo features two of the finest flatpicking guitarists of this generation. Both share a lifelong love of acoustic bluegrass guitar music made famous by influential duets Doc and Merle Watson, and Tony Rice and Norman Blake. Keel, Stickley, and other modern flatpickers like Billy Strings grew up studying these legends. These masters were role models who provided inspiration to both Larry and Jon to pursue careers as professional guitar players. Each has gone on to pioneer his own distinct interpretation of the bluegrass artform, as well as fusing genres from roots, jazz, prog, and beyond. Now, Keel and Stickley have themselves become new masters of acoustic guitar. With this act, the two celebrate the pure joy of playing acoustic guitar music as a duo, effortlessly complementing each other’s rhythm and lead playing while never losing their own individual personality. Their sophisticated and awe-inspiring performances suit an array of venues including festival stages, listening rooms, private functions, and nightclubs. At the core of the Keel/Stickley Duo is an intimate conversation between two guitars and voices, done with superior skill and taste, with more than a hint of explosive late-nightjam vibe.
