It’s time to say goodbye to Hidden Roots Studio, and hello to a new chapter…

For the past year, I have been learning to paint and I’ve been loving it!

I always wanted to be a painter, but never thought I’d be good enough, so I went with what I knew I could do: ceramics.

Fast forward 4 years, and I felt like I wasn’t reaching my artistic potential. There were things I wanted to do that I never could with clay.

So, I started painting, and it felt like I was reuniting with a part of myself that I had shoved away for so long.

Long story short, I’m going all in on this new adventure and saying goodbye to making my sweet little slugs and snails.

Now, I’m getting ready to launch my new portfolio of 26 original oil paintings, and I can’t wait to show them off!

I’ll be celebrating by throwing a little launch party Sunday, March 2nd at 4pm CST on my NEW IG ACCOUNT

The party will be on Instagram LIVE where I’ll give you a tour of my new studio, discuss some paintings, and respond to your questions and comments.

I hope you can join me or catch the replay afterwards… but either way, come on over to !

Bittersweet is an understatement. I am really going to miss making little slug friends for you.

But, I’m ready to embrace my true passion and grow as an artist with oil painting.

Sometimes things don’t go as planned… but that’s why I love thinking of ‘flaws’ as ‘perfectly imperfect’!

I’ve saved up all of my blemished beauties from the past year. Now I’m getting them ready for this year’s Destash Event where you’ll be able to give them a home while enjoying HEAVY discounts.

This is my 3rd year participating in Destash and I have to say, the vibes are so fun. As in, everyone just looks happy there! It’s so refreshing.

I’ve designed these workshops to be friendly for all skill levels. BEGINNER? I’ll take you through one step at a time. EXPERT? I’ll guide you to create something you’re proud of.

Aaaaand I have to say… these workshops are FULL of juicy tips and techniques 🤤

The second most common question I get asked is: ‘How long does it take you to make everything?’

Let me just say that this is HARD to answer (am i right fellow makers??)

Overtime, I just learned to respond with ‘A long time!’, or ‘Longer than you’d think!’

Because the truth is, I don’t look at the clock when I work… Aaaaand I’m always working on multiple pieces at a time (hello ADHD!)

Ceramics is a lengthy process. And even though I don’t have exact numbers, I can tell you that I’ve been making ceramic art professionally for 4 YEARS. 🤯

4 years?! I think they should give me another bachelors degree 🤣

I always thought that I would get faster at making things over the years… but quite the opposite has happened!

Why?

✨I’m adding more details/colors to each piece

✨Quality control is very important to me

✨A lot of the pieces have gotten bigger (and better)

✨Unique designs demand more creative planning

Anyway… If you really want to know how long it takes, pick up a ball of clay and see for yourself! No, really, get those hands dirty and make something fun! Experience is truly the best way to understand.

I know what you are thinking… obviously! Those are the first places that come to mind.

🌱 But every now and then I encounter someone who asks ‘What do you do with them??’ To which I cheekily respond… ‘Well they’re art soooo whatever you want!’ 🤪

I know I know, in the moment, people don’t always say what they mean (guilty as charged 🙋‍♀️)…

🌱 I think what they ACTUALLY mean to ask is… ‘Where is a good place to keep them?’

So here is my real answer:

Pick a place where you’ll be able to visit your slug often, OR in a place that others can see it too! Can you imagine all the conversations that a slug can start?! Trust me, it’s an introvert’s best friend 💁‍♀️

The truth is, there are SO MANY PLACES. 👉 I’ve got clients that have one in every room, and some that keep them all together like a little slug family 🥹

Pro tip: Avoid spacial blindness by moving your art around to a new place from time to time and BOOM, you’ll renew your appreciation for it ✨

I’m moving to online!!! You’ve been waiting… Asking me how you can buy my art allll the time.

I’ve been DEEEEP into Art Show season and prepping for it since January 🤪 so when I get asked if you can buy my ceramic work online, my answer has always been ‘you can’t unless you come in person to a show’…

I am elated to say: THAT IS ABOUT TO CHANGE!

🐌🌱🍾 Starting this September/October, my ceramic art will be available EXCLUSIVELY on my website. Here’s how it will work:

✨First, I’ll have a small but mighty collection release on my website in late September with all unique, original pieces.

✨Then, I’ll have *select* constant ceramic pieces available as ‘made to order’ on my site,
featuring your favorites from art show season… Get ready for slugs y’all!

Aaaand I won’t be doing ANY holiday markets this year, so the ONLY way to grab my art is From 👏 My👏 Website 👏
