We visited Appleton this past weekend for the Mile of Music Festival. Appleton has a cool vibe and lots of great places to eat. We had breakfast at Commodore Cafe.

I had a tasty cold brew and breakfast sandwich with egg, gruyere, tomato bacon chutney, arugula, and chive oil on a croissant. It’s now part of the cravings list and only two and a half hours from home.

It’s been a minute, but what better way to reintroduce what we do here than talking about our visit to Brathaus Woodstock.

The Sausage Board with Smoked Bacon Jalapeno Cheddar Stuffed Brat, Polish Andouille Sausage, Grilled Onions, and Kraut. The Soup Flight takes off with Bier Cheese, Tomato, and Chicken Spaetzle Soups, and a Pretzel Roll. Add the fried pickles to the mix and wash it all down with a N/A beer from Best Day Brewing.

Over the weekend, we went to the soft opening of Kozy in Libertyville.

A great pre-fixe menu with soy-glazed pork, Korean fried chicken, kimbap, and banchan.

A wonderful dinner featuring a DRY-AGED BEEF BURGER with pimento cheese, charred onion aioli, butter lettuce, tomato, onion, and fries. I always look forward to a small bottle of Heinz.

For dessert, BUTTERMILK PIE, “THE LAST PIECE,” with bourbon caramel, buttermilk ice cream, and smoked salt. Very rich. Very decadent. Very delicious.

San Antonio has quite the food scene. I really enjoyed the shrimp and grits here.
