Waterbrook is teaming up with Capital Ceramic Supply in Albany, NY again to take part in a community woodfiring at their Delmar kiln, designed and built in 2022.

From potluck meals, to cutting wood, wadding, filling the kiln, taking shifts feeding the fire, all the way to the community meal and big reveal when the kiln is opened, wood fires are a great way to connect with other potters.

Kiln loading: Sept. 17th
Firing: Sept. 18th & 19th

Join us at Waterbrook this Wednesday, July 1st @ 6pm to learn all about the unpredictable world of wood fire with . Emmalyn has done some extensive research on the process, whether you are new to woodfired pottery, or a seasoned veteran of many woodfires, you’re sure to learn a thing or two (or 10).

Donna Bernstein is an accomplished Potter who has been doing pottery for 35 years. She is on the faculty for Berkshire Art Center and also teaches at her own studio ‘The Clay Cottage’ in the Berkshires.

The workshop will consist of 3 sessions:
August 5th -First session will be throwing Mug and adding the slip.
August 12th -Second session will be trimming and adding underglaze or oxides.
August 19th - Third session will be Glazing.
Donna requests that you use Standard 112 clay. You can bring your own or purchase from the Donna at the first class for $15.

The first five was developed by Old Forge Cermics as an easy and inexpensive entry to glaze mixing that uses the same five basic ingredients. In this 3 part workshop we'll discuss some glaze mixing basics and mix 3 base glazes (gloss, floating and matte) so participants can do their own experiments with colorants. The idea is to allow participants to become comfortable with the mixing process and experiment a little. Each participant will mix their own set of base glazes that they will be able to experiment with.

June 20th 10am-3pm 
June 27th 10am-1pm
