🏳️‍🌈 This week’s for is Marie Laurencin’s “Young Girl” (c. 1927).

Marie Laurencin met fashion designer Nicole Groult in 1911, beginning a forty-year-long romantic relationship filled with mutual artistic inspiration. Laurencin’s female relationships are key to understanding her life and her work, which moved between mainstream and q***r circles.

Immersive and visually stunning experiences await at the Colby Museum this summer!

Opening July 11, “Imagining an Archipelago: Art from Cuba, Guam, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Their Diasporas” connects generations across oceans, featuring approximately 50 works by more than 40 artists.

From sculpture and painting to large-scale multimedia installations, the exhibition invites you to consider shared histories that transcend geographies and gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of the American experience.

“By Design: The Worlds of Betsy James Wyeth” opens June 12 at the Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery of Art ✨

Earlier this month, we headed offshore with to explore Allen and Benner islands with curators Kendall deBoer () and Francesca Soriano, and artists Mandy Lamb (.g.lamb) and Elaine K. Ng ().

“By Design” provides insights into Betsy James Wyeth’s wide-ranging practice as a designer of complex environments, mapping how she transformed landscapes. Watch more at the link in our bio.

“Global Crossings: Selections from the Lunder Collection” closes at the Colby Museum on June 7.

Spanning cultures and millennia, this exhibition features over 40 highlights from the Lunder Collection, ranging from the year 618 to 2019.The exhibition offers a rare chance to see artists including Ai Weiwei, Mary Cassatt, Pablo Picasso, and Rembrandt in a single space.
