Today, as we commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9.11.01, I am reminded that the series of events on that tragic day were the reason Terry Redlin finished his series of seven paintings called "An American Portrait". The series is a powerful tribute to America and to the servicemen and servicewomen who keep us free.

Prior to 9.11, Terry had tucked the entire series away. It was too emotional - and too personal - for him to finish. Then, on the morning of 9.11, he, like many of us, watched the second plane hit the second tower. He was overcome with emotion and decided in that moment that he must finish the series. To him, it was his only way to "fight back". All seven original oil paintings were unveiled and placed on display in the Redlin Art Center in 2004. https://redlinart.com/an-american-portrait/

This Saturday, September 12th, is the 20th Anniversary of Watertown's Memory Care Walk and Celebration! The Redlin Art Center and the Redlin family became involved with "The Walk" in 2016, the year Terry Redlin passed away. This special event is a gathering of families, friends and community to support caregivers, remember loved ones, and celebrate the lives of all those who struggle - or have struggled - with memory loss.

The Redlin Art Center is honored to be the host location for this annual event. And this year, for the 20th anniversary, the Redlin Pavilion on the grounds of the Redlin Art Center is the starting point! The event starts at 9 a.m. There is NO REGISTRATION FEE! Join us! Walk with us! Celebrate, support and remember with us! For more information, a peek at some of the raffle items, and a list of the day's activities, visit: https://www.facebook.com/groups/WatertownMemoryCareSupportGroup/
