Actors' Shakespeare Project ASP is an award-winning professional theater company with a Resident Acting Company and extensive

Actors’ Shakespeare Project believes Shakespeare’s words are urgently relevant to our times. Working as an ensemble of resident company members, we bring these words into the voices, bodies, and imaginations of our actors, audiences and neighborhoods. We do this through creative projects, including intimate productions and outreach programs that are informed by the spaces in which they happen. These projects inspire civic dialogue, build relationships between people, strengthen communities, and reveal something about what it means to be human here and now.

What’s past is Prologue… literally. If you’re reading this, you were either at the party of the year this Tuesday — or you missed out. 🤷🏻‍♂️

For those of you who didn’t get your tarot cards read, didn’t receive a personalized sonnet, didn’t get a one-night only performance from our Youth Ensemble, there’s still one way you can join in on the fun: making a donation. The more sizable, the more fun!

The year is 2007. Fergie’s “Glamorous (feat. Ludacris)” is the top of the charts. Steve Jobs just unveiled the first iPhone. And a young man named Paul Melendy is making his ASP debut as Lavinia in a production of Titus Andronicus in the basement of The Garage in Harvard Square.

This groundbreaking all-male production, helmed by David R. Gammons (director of our upcoming production of Hamlet) would go on to win that year’s The Elliot Norton Awards for Outstanding Production. Perhaps with Paul back as Dracula this year, he’ll go two-for-two with us! Or maybe we need to shave his head for good luck… 🤔

You’re not seeing triple-double - DRACULA is Doug and Bobbie’s third show together since 2023!

Despite a height difference of approximately four-and-a-half feet, ASP Resident Artists Doug Lockwood and Bobbie Steinbach are one of Boston’s most potent comedic duos. Whether it’s as Jacques and Touchstone, Bottom and Quince, or Van Helsing and Renfield — you know this pair is going to bring the laughs!
