It was the idea of a new member to get this site up and running.... thanks to CSX1. As with any organization, there are some simple rules in consideration of our club. First, fill out the membership form with a $5.oo membership processing fee ~ which also allows you to bring your H O trains to the layout to operate. After three business meetings, every third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m., a
vote is taken by attending club members on the person looking to join. Several factors affect the decision of the vote... ~Attendance of the business meetings - although you can't vote on issues, it is a way of learning about the club. Nothing "earth shaking", usually 15 minute meetings. ~ Participation in sessions of layout operations on Saturdays - during the typical 8 or 8:30 a.m. operating session... best to show before 3 p.m., as closing time is being considered around 4:30 p.m. based on number of people there, especially during the summer months. During the winter months and rainy days the Saturday operation will go 8 a.m. Key holders do open other days during the week... usually Monday and Friday afternoons. ~ In any endeavor, consideration goes a long ways with existing membership. By this, I mean the respect of the membership's rail equipment. Which means you should ask first about handling any models - from automobiles to re-railing equipment. ~ Learning the operation of the layout. Especially the staging yard when crossing the inside mainline for the outside mainline. ~ Depending on attendance, sharing the trackage "goes a long ways"... operate your train for 10 - 15 minutes if we're having a good turn out of members. ~ I can not stress enough, the respect of the trains (of future fellow club members) by you operating at a reasonable speed that is scale realistic. "Fast" is for slot car racing and not model railroading. ~ We try to be an "upbeat" group... For the most part, the sessions are an appreciation of one another's talents in what is a life long hobby for many. ~ We do accept membership of youngsters.... they will need a parent in attendance at all times at the layout or at the traveling shows we attend. This applies to the age up to 18. ~ We are not beholden to any one era or road name in railroading. Steam or diesel, from north, south, east to west.... we as a club believe this keeps our membership averages up, around 28 - 30 people. Beyond equipment performance (staying on the tracks), you are expected to be aware of where your train's location. We do not have "schedules" to run by nor are expected to interchange. We do have switching possibilities. ~ Your cost to join and stay in good standing is quite reasonable.... the $5.oo membership process fee. Once voted in - $120.oo annual dues...pro-rated in the first year depending when voted in, then due in full the first of every year. Any time you visited the club... "kick "at least a dollar to the "kitty" (for lights, water... etc..,etc. . Where else can you go for a dollar and enjoy something that can be a life long hobby? Hope to see you soon at the club. * Note: The club offers both DC and DCC capabilities for locomotives so equipped
