A moment to wrap up the summer intensives. 🇺🇸🚙
I used to be a regular attendee at the Oberlin Restoration Workshop, and the last time I sat at that specific bench was back in 2024 for the very first “Fauxberlin” in Williamsport, PA.
While I couldn’t attend the full session this year because I was over at the makers’ workshop, my talented wife, Larni, was there soaking up incredible restoration skills. I managed to escape the workbench on Friday to pay a surprise visit to my old friends and colleagues.
Swipe through for the photo dump. The sheer happiness captured in these pictures doesn’t even begin to do justice to the joy in my heart seeing everyone again. ⚒️✨
To everyone who made this summer unforgettable, thank you.
is stronger than ever 💪Until next year! 🥂

Trading the carving gouges for kitchen knives at Oberlin. ⚒️🥑
Spent a full afternoon working in the kitchen with a fantastic crew. We put together a massive international spread: traditional Harira soup, “Maria Bonita” cocktails, and an incredible lineup of authentic Mexican dishes brought to the table by Itzel Avila. My main contribution? Mixing up the guacamole. 🇲🇽🔥
The payoff? At the end of the two-week intensive, our team took home the official Best Meal Award! 🏆✨
Turns out, the same precision we bring to the workbench applies to the kitchen. What a crew, and what an unforgettable week.

Taking a quick detour from Day 3 at Oberlin. 🎻✈️
An Argentinian colleague convinced our crew: one Spaniard 🇪🇸one Brazilian🇧🇷, and two Mexicans🇲🇽to head into a Cleveland tavern for the Argentina match.
The highlight? Trying the legendary Argentinian drink, Fernet.
The verdict? I think I’ll stick to drinking beer 🍻 😅
Great match, amazing company, questionable drinks. ⚒️🌎

esterday was the birthday of my beautiful soulmate, à who oman whose kindness is so profound that words simply fail to do it justice.
Me siento tan afortunado de tenerla a mi lado que solo una cita de Miguel de Cervantes haría un poco de justicia a nuestra agradecida situación:
“El que acierta en el casar, no le queda en que acertar.” 🕊️✨
To celebrate her, I organized a surprise party with some of her closest friends. Watching her walk into a room full of love was the perfect reminder of how deeply she impacts everyone around her. Happy Birthday, my love. ❤️🦘

The summer bench is officially set. 🇺🇸✈️
First order of business, dropping my amazing wife, Larni, off for her own intensive at the ALI Restoration Workshop in Williamsport, PA. From there, a straight shot driving across the state to make it to Ohio in a single day.
Yesterday was Day 1 of the Oberlin Violin Makers Workshop. The atmosphere is already incredible. Surrounded by world-class makers, deep technical focus, and a blank canvas for the days ahead. ⚒️📐
Let the intensive work begin.

Pure, continuous bench audio. 🎧✨
Carving the long chamfers along the neck, connecting them seamlessly from heel to heel with the custom maple root and snakewood knife. No background music, just the uninterrupted rhythm of steel slicing through maple.
The reel ends with a close-up look at the final, crisp geometry. Precision you can hear, clean lines you can see. ⚒️📐
Turn the volume up for this one.

Pure bench audio. 🎧✨
No voiceover, just the crisp, clean sound of the modified Hock blade working alongside the incredible visual of this custom handle.
The chatoyancy of the highly figured maple root paired with the striking texture of the snakewood scale, built to tackle the finest details on the 15 1/2” Amati viola. Crafting the tool to craft the masterwork. ⚒️🪵
Put your headphones on for this one.
