We gathered at First Parish in Watertown Nov. 4 to remember Kathy Johnson, a long-time member of GBIC, who died recently. Sarah Bansen, Tom Nesbitt, Robert Dove McClellan and Lisa Wexler organizeed the meaningful event.
Joanne Hammil, accompanied by Martha Leader, led us in singing Kathy's favorite song, Amazing Grace. Robert Dove shared Clare Harner's prayer, Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep.

"Find a Way" by Adam Ezra, performed by GBIC January 2020

check out my ma's chorus singing "find a way" at their winter concert!!
as many of you know, my mom, Joanne Hammil, is a huge reason i am both a musician and community activist. there are very few things more inspiring to me than watching her chorus, the Greater Boston Intergenerational Chorus (GBIC), in concert.
(check'm out: bostonchorus.net)
such an honor for me that they wanted to sing one of my songs, and this song in particular. i cannot express how proud i am of my ma, and how impactful it is to hear my words sung by 80 beautiful humans, making the world a little bit better with their voices…
My mom rearranged our band’s arrangement to work with a 4-part chorus, and is happy to share the score with anyone who might want to use it with choruses they belong to. (write to joanne(at)joannehammil.com and she’ll send pdf!)

GBIC is starting up our fall semester on Sept 10th! Exciting! Great line-up of music! Wonderful community of singers!

Although we have full enrollment for our fall semester (80 singers from 30 different towns in the greater Boston area), anyone is welcome to come and sing with us at our first rehearsal of the semester to "check us out" for the future: Tues, Sept 10th, 6:30-8:00 at First Parish of Watertown, 35 Church St.
(After Sept 10th, rehearsals are just for members of the chorus.)

We are happy to add people to our (shortish) waiting list for our spring semester which begins in February.
