Tomorrow is Graduation Day at DHS! Band members: make sure to park further away from DHS, near DMS in order to get a spot. We need all Intermediate Band and Advanced Band wind and percussion members to be dressed nicely and in the gym, sitting, and ready to play at 1:30pm! Plan accordingly and make sure to arrive early - it will be busy!

THIS THURSDAY, June 4th, 2026 @ 6:00 pm at the DeKalb Outdoor Theater in Auburn, IN! Come help us kick off our summer and lock in for the upcoming Fall 2026 Baron Brigade season! We'll have a raffle for prizes to support the Brigade. Also, DeKalb Alumni and former DeKalb Middle School director, Matt Murdock, will be MCing our event, as we also take time to celebrate the life of former DeKalb band director Kevin Campbell, who passed away this winter. We hope to see you there!

If you'd like to play a few tunes with the band, bring your instrument! Mr. Murdock picked out a few of Kevin's favorites to play together!

Many of our DeKalb Baron trumpet players joined 70+ others for Taps Across the Water at Webster and Wawasee Lakes this Memorial Day weekend. This event honors America’s fallen with trumpet players surrounding the lake and playing Taps when they hear it played by someone else. The sound is incredibly unique; hearing echoes across the water, not being able to see where it’s coming from. Personally, I stop and reflect after playing every year and think of a veteran who passed and just listen as the Taps finishes.

Thank you to Matt Murdock for creating one of the largest Taps Across events in the nation, for inviting so many trumpet players out, arranging music for small concerts at each site, and sharing his own personal connection to the event.
