James W. Diener,76, of Washington, passed away on August 25, 2026. Mr. Diener, son of the late Leonard “Sparky” Diener and Bernadine nee Marquart, was born on October 2, 1949, in Washington. He received his education from Washington High School. On October 17, 1970, he was united in marriage to Judith Maune in Krakow.
Jim served in the Army Reserves for 6 years, before he was honorably discharged.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Marian and Omer Maune; two brother-in-laws, Eugene and Merrill Maune and nephew, Robbie Fitzgerald.
Among his survivors are his wife, Judy Diener of Washington; four children, Lisa Ennis of Washington, Christine Diener of Washington, Matthew Diener and wife Vivian of Centralia, MO, and Julie Holdmeier and husband Justin of Washington; six siblings, Dale Diener of Union, Nancy Fitzgerald of Washington, Mike Diener and wife Donna of Beaufort, Kenny Diener and wife Deb of Washington, Debbie Hecktor and husband James of New Haven, and John Diener and wife Mary Ann of Marthasville; four grandchildren, Nick Ennis and fiance Hailey Salyer, Andrew Holdmeier, Aubrey Holdmeier, and Austin Holdmeier; brothers and sisters-in-law, Barbara Laswell, Keith Maune and wife Cheryl, Kurt Maune and wife Holly, Gerald Maune and wife Vicky, and Patrick Maune and wife Kapka; loved ones and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 3-6 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the St. Gertrude’s Church in Krakow. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
