One day until opening night, and we are pleased to introduce our leading man, Mr. Andy Dufresne. Washington Community Theaters' production of The Shawshank Redemption opens tomorrow night, and we hope to see you there.

🚨Bio🚨
(Andy Dufresne) This is my first production at WCT. During my time in high school at Mid-Prairie, I was in six different productions along with one production with Young Footlighters in Coralville. My mom and my sister have had a huge role in pushing me to do theater, especially during my sophomore year of high school. I have had so much fun getting to know all the guys in this play and I've always looked forward to practice every night. I'm thankful for this great theater community in Washington! I truly look forward to being in many future productions here.

Daniel Kitchen (Red) I am a long time Washington resident and am honored to join this dedicated cast and crew in this 50th year of WCT. My past WCT shows include Charlotte's Web, Clue, Mary Poppins, Rumors, Shreck, My Fair Lady, Confessions of a Dirty Blonde, Night Must Fall, Forever Plaid and others. Thank you to all of the great people I have had the opportunity to learn from and special thanks to my lovely wife, Nicole, for tolerating the late nights, and pacing while I recite lines out loud.

🚨Bio🚨
Ryan Flannery (Warden Stammas) I am excited to be back on stage and take on the role of the warden. I have been involved in other WCT productions such as Annie (Daddy Warbucks), Music Man (Marcellus Washburn), Mary Poppins (George Banks), Shrek (Head Guard) and Sound of Music (Captain Von Trapp). In real life, I continue to play the roles of Family Physician and Chief Medical Information Officer at WCHC, and husband and dad to my wife Diana and 4 grown children. I have been utterly amazed at all the enormous talent, vision, and dedication everyone brought to this production. Thanks for supporting live theater here at WCT!

Tim Elliott
My name is Tim Elliott and my character is Entwistle in The Shaw Shank Redemption.
It’s been about 40 years since I’ve been on stage but participated in every play and musical from my 7th grade year through high school. I also was in a couple shows at Washington Community Theater after graduation, Fiddler on the Roof and Annie Get Your Gun.
I always enjoyed my time on stage and when the opportunity to try out for this show came, I thought it was time to see if I could still do it.
My wife and I own our real estate business in Washington and I enjoy watching my grandkids in general and their sporting events. I’m also still trying to master golf and don’t see me giving up on that any time soon.

John Murphy
This is my first time performing at the WTC and as impressive as the theater is, the cast and crew I am working with in this production is equally as impressive. Having performed in plays such as the Sound of Music and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoats and a few others many years ago, I can say that it is a real pleasure to once again be performing on stage and in this production. Thanks to my loving wife Molly for all of her encouragement and fostering my creativity. Thanks to all for supporting the WTC to continue these productions for the community. Have fun and enjoy the show !

Dakota Howard
This is Dakota’s second year with WCT and 3rd show with the group. Previously, he performed as an ensemble member in the Drowsy Chaperone last summer, and Jacob in Grumpy Old Men back in spring. He also performed as Narrator 2 in the Grimm Brothers Spectaculathon in “A Night of One Acts.” Outside of the theater, Dakota works at Cambridge Investment Research in Fairfield. He went to college in Mount Pleasant, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Dakota is excited to be joining this cast in the Shawshank Redemption and IS looking forward to more opportunities in the future!

Brett Pierson (Dawkins): Brett is very excited to join the cast of Shawshank Redemption. Born and raised in Washington, he works as A Manager at Washington Title & Guaranty and has had the opportunity to be a part of many Washington Community Theater shows. Owen Piette (Brooksie Hatlen, Light Design)
I live near Ainsworth with my wonderful wife, Emily, and four daughters, two at the University of Iowa and two at Highland. During the day I'm an electrical engineer. This is my second time treading the boards at WCT. I'm usually in the booth running lights, sound, rear projection, or spotlighting, but this time I'm in the unique position of both designing the lights and being lit! I knew early on that I wanted to design for this show, but as the audition dates came closer I also wanted to support and be part of an all-male cast doing an intense drama at WCT. It's been an insightful experience as a lighting designer, actor, and as a human being trying to understand hope and friendship. I'd like to thank Chad, Nick, and the rest of the cast and crew for their professionalism, bravery, and passion for the fine arts.

Sebastian Hollandsworth (Bogs) - This is my first production at the WCT and my first theater production in general. I am a Senior BIM Specialist with Archkey Parsons Electric. I am also married with 3 kids and a dog. Looking forward to learning more about the WCT and all the people involved!

Jason Deprey- (Pinky) is making his second appearance with the Washington Community Theatre in The Shawshank Redemption. He is a resident of Fairfield, IA. He was last seen on the WCT stage in Meet Me in St. Louis as Sydney Pervis. His other theatrical credits include: The Play That Goes Wrong with the Mt. Pleasant Community Theatre (Stage Crew), Too Old for the Chorus, But Not Too Old To Be A Star (Barry), A Christmas Story the Musical (Waiter/Ensemble), The Most Happy Fella (Doc), James and the Giant Peach (Ensemble), Oliver (Ensemble) and Freaky Friday the Musical (Pastor Bruno) all with Fairfield Area Community Theatre. This doesn’t include all smaller shows helping behind the scenes when not performing on stage. He is a very active board member of the Fairfield Youth Performing Arts. Thanks to all the love and support to my family and friends. Break a leg to the cast and crew.

Terry Shaw - Prison Cook, is thrilled to be part of W.C.T. production of The Shawshank Redemption by Steven King. He is happy to be on stage again after a long absence. Past productions include, Annie, The Foreigner and Thornton Wilder's the Matchmaker. When not at work at Iowa Renewable Energy, Terry is currently training to be a full-time cat herder when he retires soon. Thank you to Lisa in wardrobe for the awesome costumes! Todd Patterson (Mel Woods) – Todd is appearing in his 7th production at Washington Community Theater, this time serving an undetermined sentence as inmate Mel Woods. Todd has previously served on the WCT Board and is excited to once again work with director Chad Dolan and producer Nic Juelsgaard, having had the pleasure of working with both on past productions. When not incarcerated at Shawshank, Todd can usually be found playing drums in several local bands, working out, spending time with his family, or at his day job as CEO of Washington County Hospital and Clinics. Todd and his wife, Dana, live in Washington and have four children and one granddaughter. He has thoroughly enjoyed working with this incredibly talented cast and crew and thinks WCT audiences are in for something truly special.

John Harris – Guard 2
First of all, Thank-You to my wife Peggy Sue for allowing me to participate in one more show!! I was born and raised here in Washington. We have two married, children along with five grandchildren. I have been involved in many shows at WCT, mainly musicals, either on stage or playing trumpet in the pit orchestra, along with helping on set building, painting and striking, and in the ticket office. A few of my favorite roles have been, Rueben, the oldest brother in “Joseph”, Jacey Squires, 1st Tenor in the barbershop quartet in “Music Man”, Homer Zuckerberg in “Charlotte’s Web” and Stan in “Grumpy Old Men the Musical”. I am currently serving my second term on the Theater Inc. Board. We have a great cast and crew preparing this show for you and I hope that you enjoy our production of “The Shawshank Redemption”.
