Yarn Art in the Park The purpose of this page is to promote the Yarn Art in the Park event in Washington Indiana.

22/01/2026

The weather may be getting colder, but we are thinking about Yarn Art in the Park already. With 2026 being the 250th year of America, we are thinking patriotic. If you are wanting to participate this year, reach out to us or bring in the art you would like going up. We just ask that you don't bring anything political or vulgar. We're also planning to bring out some new types of art this year. Stay tuned for more info...

Yarn Art in the Park 2024 is taken down and packed away until next year. A special thank you to all who made projects, helped with the installation and the take down and supported us in this project. We look forward to doing it again next year. Projects may be submitted anytime, but we will begin installation next March so put those creative minds to work and get those knitting needles and crochet hooks out. We would love to see lots of new projects in 2025.
If anybody took pictures of our yarn art or of our team, please send them to us or post them in the comments.

It will soon be time to install the names on the Red Poppy Remembrance Day display for Yarn Art in the Park. If you would like to honor a deceased friend or relative in the display, stop by the RSVP offices in the Community Building, or give us a call at 812-254-1996. We will need the veteran's name, your name and relationship to the veteran, as well as their branch of service. Please also let us know if their received a Purple Heart so that we can indicate that with a special tag.
If you submitted names last year, you don't need to re-submit. We still have that information. Thank you!!!

We have so many amazing pieces of art that have come through this year. We are so thankful for the crafters and our team for putting all of it up. There are just a few pieces to come now. Enjoy scrolling through some of our art installations for the year. Thank you to Jeannie Dickmann Burks Debbie Phillips-Linneweber Sheila O'Maley Betty Schmitt Huelsman Flo Lloyd Rick and Karen Powers Sandy Genaro Shelton and everyone else who helped to make this possible. We could not have this beautiful display if we didn't have volunteers who are willing to help. Thanks also to Washington Indiana Parks & Recreation for allowing us to display all of this at the Eastside Park.
We are so excited by the new additions this year and well as the old familiar ones. We have our first installation of "plarn" which is made from plastic grocery bags. In fact, it's one of the pieces pictured in our post.
If you're wanting to get a piece in, it's not too late, but please don't wait too long. We are trying to ensure that all of the art (aside from the Veteran's memorial poppies) is up in time for the eclipse.
We would love to see any pictures that you have of our art, and thank you to everyone who has already come in to say that you love it.

We will be putting up our poppies again this year which had such a great response last year. In May, we will begin adding names of Veterans for Memorial Day. Be on the lookout for our post where we inform you that you can come in or call to submit new names. We're not quite ready, but we are excited to see such a wonderful project happen again. A special thank you to Jeannie and Kathy who made this project so beautiful. Of course a big thank you to our other volunteers who took the time to hang the poppies so that we could enjoy them. Is it May yet?

The weather may be getting colder, but we've got spring on our minds. We are excited to see old and new yarn art up at the Eastside Park this year. If you have questions or want to submit some work, feel free to call us at (812)254-1996 or come in to our offices Monday- Friday 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. * excluding Martin Luther King Jr day
If you have a project that will need to be hung (like the pom poms that go in front of the building), PLEASE give us a call or come in. We want to be fully prepared so that all work can be nicely displayed.
Thank you again to all of our past artists who have made this tradition such a fun time. What has been your favorite piece of art from this project so far? If you have pictures, we would love to see them in the comments.
