Explore color, light, and expressive mark-making in this all-levels class inspired by the Impressionists and the artists who followed them.

Starting from the ground up, students will learn how to mix colors like the Impressionists while exploring painting techniques that emerged in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Whether you’re new to painting or looking to deepen your practice, this class offers a welcoming way to experiment with color, movement, and historical approaches that continue to inspire artists today.

Join us at Washington Printmakers Gallery and discover new ways to bring vibrancy and atmosphere into your work.

✂️ Beautiful Scraps: A Collage Workshop with Clare Winslow

Join us on Sunday, July 12, from 12 PM to 4 PM for a hands-on workshop celebrating the creative possibilities of collage.

Collage is one of the most playful and immediately satisfying art forms — all you need is paper, scissors, and a willingness to see what happens when unexpected materials come together. In this workshop, Clare Winslow will guide students in building layered compositions from found and personal materials, exploring collage as both an intuitive process and a serious artistic medium.

Bring whatever inspires you: vintage maps, sheet music, decorative papers, magazine clippings, old drawings, unfinished artwork, wrapping paper, book pages, or any scraps you’ve been saving for “someday.” A generous selection of papers, maps, and printed materials will also be provided.

Good news — Clare Winslow’s upcoming workshops have sold out! ✨

Thank you to everyone who registered for these popular classes. If you were hoping to join and missed a spot, we encourage you to reach out to the instructor and ask to be added to the waiting list.

Cancellations do happen, and joining the waitlist is the best way to be contacted if a place opens up. It also helps us know how much interest there is for future workshops with Clare.

Thank you for supporting WPG classes — we love seeing so much enthusiasm for printmaking!

Join us tomorrow, Sunday, June 14th, from 2–4 PM for the opening reception of Street Markets: Relief Prints and Reduction Screenprints by Leslie Rose.

Inspired by travels through Asia and Latin America, Leslie’s exhibition brings the energy, color, and rhythm of street markets into the gallery through woodblock prints and screenprints. Many of the works explore reduction screenprinting — a layered, hands-on process of drawing, blocking, printing, and repeating color by color.

Come meet the artist, learn more about this fascinating process, and celebrate a vibrant new exhibition at WPG.

Opening Reception: Sunday, June 14, 2–4 PM

Join Clare Winslow for Carve & Print: Hand Block Printing, a beginner-friendly workshop where you’ll design and carve your own Speedy Carve block, then print it by hand using ink and a brayer.

Speedy Carve’s soft, forgiving surface makes it a great introduction to block printing, even if you’ve never carved before. By the end of class, you’ll leave with several bold handmade prints, a greeting card or two, and your own carved block to keep printing with at home.
