Happy 420, improvisers who also enjoy w**d! πππ
Nixon's so-called "war on drugs" has been thoroughly discredited as wholly ineffectual & deeply immoral. Not a rational public health policy, but rather a political pretense for racist (& anti-leftist) state violence, this abomination has continued unabated for decades under both major parties, decimating Black & brown communities essentially living under occupation by U.S. policing, then incarcerated into enslaved labor (13TH) by privatized prisons.
Alcohol-related deaths total nearly 1M annually in this country, & alcohol's contribution to domestic (& other forms of) violence is immense. Billionaire bankers destroy the global economy & their so-called "white collar crimes" go unchecked. Sexual predators rise to the highest levels of power in every industry including our government. Yet the possession of a small amount of self-medication / recreational ma*****na, in the hands of non-rich or non-white i.e. second class citizens, is enough to justify ruining a person's life & ripping them from their family. We must demand immediate decarceration for all non-violent drug "offenders" (whose so-called "offense," which harmed no one, was no different from what millions of more-privileged people like myself regularly consume).
Furthermore, requires & a critical look at the inequity baked into this "emerging" industry (which has always existed, in the margins of society, but now that it's legal to profit from, those who write the laws & own the capital are profiteering from on an obscene scale, while leaving the very folks in the dust who supplied our national habit for so long, paying dearly with their freedom & often their life).
"The dominance of white businesspeople & the lack of comprehensive social justice in many cannabis legalization campaigns is not an accidental bug but a feature of the sort of 'pragmatic' policy approach that many social justice advocates have been taught to accept. There must be political organizing strategies that explicitly center racial justice."

Any plan to decriminalize cannabis must put power in the hands of Black and brown communities.
