Children's Orchestra of DC

Children's Orchestra of DC The Children's Orchestra project is an initiative of the DC Youth Orchestra Program.

In the fall 2014, DCYOP adopted the Children’s Orchestra project at Garrison Elementary School. The Children’s Orchestra project is modeled after El Sistema, Venezuela’s renowned youth orchestra program that uses music as a vehicle for social change. The Children’s Orchestra project aims to enhance DCPS students’ interest in learning, strengthen their connection to school, and improve their academ

ic and social skills. DCYOP has received funding to expand the program to a second DCPS elementary school beginning spring 2015.

CODC is excited to welcome violinist Nicola Benedetti and cellist Leonard Eischenbroich this afternoon! Thank you to the NSO's Education Program at the Kennedy Center for arranging this special visit!

Maestro Eschenbach leads Brahms's famed Double Concerto featuring two rising young stars--violinist Nicola Benedetti and cellist Leonard Elschenbroich, both in their NSO debuts. The program also includes Tchaikovsky's "Pathétique" Symphony.

Thank you SO much to everyone who helped us achieve our Indiegogo campaign goal! We are now in the process of interviewing teaching artists and assistants to work with our new and returning young musicians. Stay tuned for future updates!!
