Thanks to many generous donors, we’ve raised $3,980 toward our $5,000 goal – thank you to everyone who has supported us on this important day of giving!

If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, can you help us reach our goal and fully meet our match? That would mean $10,000 raised in one day to support Inspired Child programs for early learners in need.

We’re so grateful to everyone who’s taken part in Giving Tuesday and helped make a long-lasting difference in children’s lives.

Dumbarton Arts & Education would like to wish you a happy Juneteenth National Independence Day.

Juneteenth – short for June Nineteenth – recognizes the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom. This day is also recognized as Freedom Day, Emancipation Day, or Black Independence Day. It is a reminder of the work done, and the work yet to do.

At our final concert of the 24-25 season, we were thrilled to welcome the stunningly talented winners of the 19th Marlow Guitar International Myrna Sislen Youth Guitar Competition []. These incredible young musicians gave a free pre-concert showcase to the delight of our audience. Thank you to Myrna Sislen, an icon of music in DC and a devoted member of our Board, for bringing these rising stars of classical guitar to our stage. It’s all part of our mission to bring arts to the community, which includes giving young musicians the opportunity to perform on a professional stage.

Why does early childhood matter?

Because by age 3, over 80% of a child’s brain has already formed.
Because the emotional, social, and cognitive foundations of learning are built in these early years.
Because joyful experiences in the arts spark lifelong growth.

There’s still time to give—and make that growth possible.

Tomorrow is Give Greater DC, and we’re raising funds to bring joyful, arts-based learning to DC’s youngest children through our Inspired Child program.

🧠 90% of brain development happens by age 5.
🎶 Let’s make those early years full of music, movement, and connection.

📅 Mark your calendar—and join us in giving DC children a strong start.
