Meet the cast of the SpeakTeasy on Friday 7/5!

Maki Roll's The Doll-Faced Gremlin (She/her), is an award-winning performance artist, event coordinator and pop culture entrepreneur. The Washington DC native started her creative journey in 2010 as a cosplayer and nerdlesque performer, and soon branched out to guesting, hosting and curating programming for conventions and nerdy events. Maki combines her geekiness and self-taught artistic skill to build innovative performance and visual art experiences across mediums. She has been featured by NPR, MTV, ESPN’s The Undefeated, Crunchyroll, and The Mary Sue.

She is the current Executive Producer and Owner of the historic International Nerdlesque Festival, and producer of DC Braulesque, a monthly Nerdlesque brewery experience at DC Brau.

Meet the cast of the SpeakTeasy this Fri, 7/5!

Kalypso Kraken (she/her), The Sea Monster of Your Wettest Dreams, has been enthralling audiences basically her entire life. She’s spent years teaching and performing belly dance, as well as co-producing the “Art of the Belly” belly dance festival.

Kalypso first dipped her tentacles into st******se as a student at Baltimore’s Essential Tease burlesque queeniversity. Since her debut performance as a whip-cracking Marge Simpson, she’s unleashed her particular brand of mythical magic at the Charm City Burlesque & Variety Festival and Honeybee Burlesque show. When not sinking ships and breaking hearts, she is a belly dance instructor, licensed make-up artist, a figure art model, and certified group fitness instructor. It’s time to Release the Kraken!

With a history of performing as long as hir legs, Emma Zonn (any pronouns) takes no prisoners when xie takes the stage! A q***r queen on a quest to conquer the arts and your hearts, Emma has been found with hir clothes on (Shocking!) in front of and behind the curtain for almost 25 years as an actor, dancer, director, designer, and intimacy choreographer, and has been treating hir adoring public across the mid-Atlantic to tempting tastes of hir high concept horniness for almost a decade.

You can always tell when Emma's on because you just can't miss the Tallest Tease in the DMV!

At the last SpeakTeasy, Emma was our stage kitten and did a burlesque duet with me. Xie was an audience favorite, with one audience member pulling me aside after the show to say, "You need to put them in the cast next time! They are a STAR!" That was already my plan, but I'm delighted to make that person's wish come true 😉 Come out on Friday and see what the fuss is about!
