Welcome to Wilson's Award Winning Theater Department! The year kicks off in the fall with the 24 Hour Plays, sponsored by Wilson's HAM Academy and the Wilson Players. Wilson's student run theater group. Students create and present plays with a 24 hour deadline, beginning on a Friday afternoon and culminating in a one-time only performance on Saturday night. Wilson Theater Arts produces Wilson's an

nual musical in the fall and, along with the Wilson Shakespeare Society, a Shakespeare play in the spring. Students in the Shakespeare play also perform at the Folger Shakespeare Festival each year. Our productions this year will include "Legally Blonde" and "Romeo and Juliet". Additionally, Wilson Theater Arts is the sponsor for our CAPPIES team, an international Critics and Awards Program that trains high school students as theater critics who attend and review other schools’ productions. All critics write reviews of the performances they see and reviews are selected for publication on-line in the Washington Post and in local newspapers. Wilson also offers Drama 1 and 2 Classes as well as Stagecraft 1 and 2. All theater activities are open to all Wilson students. Auditions for all productions are advertised in the Weekly Enews and the Wilson Theater Arts page. Students interested in tech should contact Dan Iwaniec. The Wilson Players, the student run theater group of Wilson Theater. Each year they present a Fall Play, Student Directed Winter One-Acts and a Spring Play. The Wilson Players steering committee the Producers select their own plays and hire directors for the Wilson Player's shows.
