Some moments are almost impossible to put into words. This was one of them. 🧡

In 2016, I painted a portrait of Hillary Clinton inspired by an idea and a question that still feels deeply relevant: What if American women’s history were reflected in our currency and our monuments?

What if we honored the women who helped build this country, broke barriers, and changed the future for generations to come?

We owe these women gratitude.

I was so grateful to see this painting find its way to Hillary herself and to personally tell her how much her life’s work means to me.

There is so much more to share about this experience, but for now, I’m simply holding onto the meaning of this moment. 🧡

This election belongs to all of us. So does the work of protecting it. I’ll be there with leaders from the League of Women Voters, LULAC, Voto Latino, Voters of Tomorrow, Indivisible, Vote For Your Daughter, and Washington’s Attorney General.

Collaboration is the magic behind so much of what I get to do.

One of my favorite parts of this work is getting to step into someone else’s world and see the talent, ideas, and skill they bring to the table. It can be challenging. It can require a lot of creative problem solving. But that is also part of what makes the process so exciting.

Creative Collaborations is my way of sharing more about the people behind the work.

Think of this series as a little love letter to the artists, designers, makers, and creative minds I have the privilege of working with. And maybe, along the way, I get to play matchmaker too.

I can’t wait to introduce you to some of them. ❤️

September was a little bit of everything.
Work, site visits, studio time, concerts, projects, selfies, and a lot of life happening in between.

Looking back at a month that somehow went by very fast.

On to October.

Brasserie Le Midi, then and now... and coming soon!

A lot changes between the first days of demo on a project and the moment a space starts to feel like itself.

I love looking back at the early construction and seeing where we are now. Design is a lot like a relationship 😊 Everything happens in layers of decisions, compromises and adjustments based on things that work, things that don’t.

Still more to come, but it’s exciting to see this one taking shape.
