"Songwriters and Poets" was introduced to DC May 2012 as an Annual Series intended to feature the Indie Artists and Music of the DMV from a wide spectrum of genres and disciplines. We were able to present 13 evenings and 45 performances over 6 weeks and in 2013 we expanded to 4 venues and presented over 100 performances of locally based original Indie Music and Poetry. In subsequent years the Series grew into years of Residencies for Artists, Curation of Adams Morgan Day 2013-15 and Curation of Clarendon Day 2013 - 2018 with hundreds of thousands enjoying the musical creations of the Artists we support. In 2016 SongPo Radio was established weekly at WERA 96.7FM and in 2020 we launched SongPo TV on Comcast 69 and FIOS 38 Arlington, VA through the facilities of arlingtonmedia.org and with pandemic came live stream and the ability to support at safe distance.. In 2021 we grow yet again as we spread our wings to strive become the DMV's first fulltime Live Stream Network, in support of Artists and Nonprofit Organizations that speak to a sustainable future.

There is no greater celebration than of friendship. Pat Metheny on stage at UPAC - Kingston telling us about Jack DeJohnette leading into the first performance by Hudson, a quartet Jack assembled with locally based Artists of note, John Scofield, guitar, Larry Grenadier, bass and John Modeski, keys. Behind Jack’s drumkit is Terri Lyne Carrington, one of his incredible prodigies and coproducer of this birthday celebration with Pat. In all 50 of Jack’s extended musical family came to pay homage to arguably one of the greatest timekeepers of our time❤️
