The Georgetown University Concert Choir is a SATB ensemble that performs a diverse range of sacred and secular works. Once known as the Georgetown University Glee Club, it is the oldest group of singers at Georgetown, even predating (and giving rise to) the Chimes. Directed by Professor Frederick Binkholder, the Concert Choir performs one major concert each semester and at special ceremonies and v

enues like the White House, the opening of Georgetown University's Qatar campus in 2005, and most recently at the Kennedy Center for John Kerry's Ocean Conference. Past performances have included selections from Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Johannes Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes, Poulenc's Gloria, and Vivaldi's Gloria.

Georgetown University Concert Choir, Chamber Singers and Chapel Choir present an evening of French music featuring the Maurice Duruflé Requiem, his motets, and the Lenten motets of Francis Poulenc on Saturday, April 22nd at 7:30 PM at the University’s Dahlgren Chapel of the Sacred Heart.

The performance will showcase the beauty and complexity of French choral music, starting with Poulenc's intricate and moving motets sung by the Chamber Singers. The evening will then reach its pinnacle with Duruflé's powerful and emotionally rich Requiem, accompanied by full orchestra and featuring Dr. Russell Weismann on the Schoenstein organ.

This is a unique opportunity to experience the magnificence of the choral art form, performed by the talented vocalists of Georgetown University. So come and join us for an evening of singing that will move your soul and elevate your spirit.

In this collaboration between Georgetown's Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, the remarkable music of Ukraine and Georgia shows forth their undaunted spirit. From the setting of the mass by Zacharia Paliashvili, which will be an American premiere, to the joyous carol settings of the Ukrainian people, we honor their resiliency and courage through song. Also on the program are selections from Paliashvili’s Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom.
