Creating a great band is about more than finding people who can sing or play an instrument. It’s about bringing together exceptional musicians who are the perfect blend of artists and entertainers.

At Lucy Black, that’s our standard. While most entertainment companies pull from a roster, we curate and create our own live bands. We assemble the right musicians specifically for your event, your vibe, and your guest list. And every performance is led by a music director on stage, reading the room, and directing the party in real time...not simply playing through a setlist.

A great DJ does more than play the music. They read the room, trust their instincts, and know exactly when to shift the energy.

That’s why we treat our DJs as creative partners, not just hired talent. For this celebration, DJ Tezrah brought the energy, while our team handled the behind-the-scenes details. From planning support to having a coordinator onsite, DJ Tezrah could stay focused on the party!

And with our photo booth rounding out the experience, every detail was covered without taking the focus away from what mattered most: a great night.

The best moments don’t always go exactly according to plan!

For this wedding, we had a string quartet + jazz trio and a special song planned for the end of the ceremony. The string quartet performed a special song during the prelude, but there was a hiccup and the moment was missed by our brides. So our team made a quick pivot. We brought the song to the jazz trio, they learned it on the spot, and we cued it up as the couple joined cocktail hour.

A beautiful surprise and a perfect example of what we mean when we say customization. It’s not just about the ensembles... it’s the artists, the team behind them, and the ability to make the moment work!

Talk about a full Lucy Black Entertainment experience! This wedding was set on a beautiful property in Virginia and started with their friend playing violin in the garden at the ceremony, then for cocktail hour we stepped in with our jazz duo in the barn area. The reception was held in a gorgeous tent in the a field and kept the vibes high all night long. We ended the night with an after party curated by one of our DJs in The Vault!

Certainly a day and night to remember!

It truly doesn’t get better than a groom surprising everyone with a performance at his own wedding reception. That’s exactly what happened on K & C’s wedding day.
Following a beautifully choreographed first dance, the groom grabbed a mic and a bass to perform “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” alongside his two friends on guitar and drums!

After that epic introduction to the reception, took over and kept the dance floor packed all night long!

We loved partnering with Sea Table DC and Curated by TPK for this special cruise, bringing the sounds of Lucy Black Entertainment to an intimate private dining experience. Troy offers a chef-sommelier led private dining experiences on land & by sea perfect for engagements, celebrations, or a romantic date night!
