Really excited to have the opportunity to bring artists, curators, and educators from the DMV area to visit Thailand this August πΉπ
Creating conversations around how different cultures see, value, and use art is something Iβve always been interested in through my career. While art in the U.S. is often discussed through exhibitions and institutions, in Thailand creativity is woven into everyday lifeβfrom temples and architecture to crafts, food, and traditions passed down through generations.
Part of the purpose of this affordable cultural exchange trip is to make international travel more accessible by creating opportunities to connect with artists, artisans, local businesses, and cultural spaces. Rather than focusing on luxury vacations, I hope we can learn from and support local communities, gain new perspectives, and explore how Thai artists and makers continue to preserve traditions through their work.
I hope to continue organizing trips like this a couple of times a year, creating more opportunities for artists from the East and West to connect, learn from one another, and share knowledge. I believe these connections help us better understand one another and the world around us.
