I don't particularly care about sweets or desserts. But sometimes things are just so good that they deserve a special mention.

I discovered my new favorite hot chocolate while in Barcelona. This thick creamy, bitter hot chocolate topped with cream is absolutely divine.

Faborit Casa Amatller is inside Casa Amatller, right next to Casa Batlló. You don't need to go for the Casa Amatller tour to access the cafe, you can just walk straight in and sip on some amazing beverages in the historic courtyard.

And thank you M for recommending Jon Cake. Again divine is the best I can use to describe.

So, I screwed up! Even though I specifically went to Barcelona to check out the Sagrada Familia and spent 2 weeks in Spain, I still did not manage to get a ticket to go inside.

Like most tourist destinations I took it for granted that I should be able to get a ticket, given I'm there for 2 weeks but No! You need to book your ticket at least a month in advance, sometimes even earlier.

So still no entry into Sagrada Familia and another excuse to go back to my favorite European city!

I have worked from some truly remarkable and unique places but none as unique as the rooftop of La Pedrera, also know and Casa Milà.

Another masterpiece by Antoni Gaudi.

Checkout the twisted iron balconies, as if shaped by the wind, the beautiful doorframes, more arches and of course the almost whimsical rooftop with chimenys that look like warriors protecting the property.

If Antonio Gaudi would still be alive, I would definitely try to hire him to build me a home. The amount of thoughtfulness he put into building ergonomically is quite surprising to me, and he was doing this in the 1800s.

This is one the prettiest buildings I have ever seen and the fact that it is designed to improve the well being of the occupant (with tons of natural light, smartly designed air ventilators, top notch design work in every frame of this masterpiece) does not hurt.

A lot of the art you'll notice here is aquatic or marine themed.

Do you see the waves in the staircase design? Even the banister is ergonomically designed and changes shape to perfectly fit the human hand as you climb.

An evening stroll in Gothic Quarter!

Pretty much everyone who knows me, knows my Barcelona story. Tldr: I was robbed in Barcelona on my last day here in 2017. It left me with multiple injuries and I have the scars even today.

After such an experience, I would usually never set foot in that country but Barcelona instead became my standard for European cities. Over the last 10 years, I have compared every European city I have been to, to Barcelona. I had too much fun in Barcelona before the incident for me to completely forget about it. So I had to come back.

One other reason I picked Spain (over my usual Amsterdam) is because I like the direction Spain is taking geopolitically and I want to show my support for the people of Spain and their leadership by spending my hard earned money in Spain.

I cannot stress this enough: Find friends who have hobbies that are different from what you like to do.

One moment you don't care about boats, the next, you're planning a 3 month vacation on it.

I love going back to places I've already been to. I find it fascinating to see how much a place has changed since I last visited it.

The Parthenon has stood for centuries as a symbol of democracy!

This summer trip across Europe, I'm only visiting countries I have already been to.

I guess I'm reaching the stage in life where I know what I like and this year is to just go back and re-live some of my favourite destinations across Europe.
