🔮 “The Psychic.” Allegra titled her scroll The Psychic to honor a mysterious and meaningful presence that shaped her life in unexpected ways. As a child, after being adopted, she longed for a sibling—something her parents thought impossible. But after an encounter with a psychic named Gabriella, her mother was urged to see a doctor and soon discovered she was pregnant with Allegra’s brother. Years later, at a crossroads in college, Allegra found Gabriella again, who gently guided her toward a path she hadn’t considered—teaching. Though she resisted the idea at first, it ultimately became her calling. Her scroll reflects the power of intuition, the unexpected guidance that can shape our lives, and the moments that seem unbelievable until they become part of our story. 🎶

🌤️ “Outside.” Lewis titled his scroll Outside because that’s where he feels happiest—playing with friends after school, spending time outdoors whenever he can, and finding something fun to do even when he’s bored. Being outside is a place of freedom and imagination for him. Looking ahead, he dreams of a world where things are free and accessible, where you can simply take what you need. He’s also imagining his future, interested in becoming a designer, a construction worker, or someone who builds things. With a love for Legos and following instructions to create something new, Lewis enjoys putting pieces together and watching ideas come to life. His scroll captures joy, curiosity, and the excitement of building both now and in the future. 🎶

🌺 "My scroll is called 1881. One of the elders here shared a chant with me…" Joseph Certeza’s work honors the oral traditions of Guam, weaving elder knowledge into his scroll as a way of carrying cultural memory forward. His scroll reminds us that history is not only written but sung, spoken, and shared across generations. 🎵

😄 “Personality.” Madilyn titled her scroll Personality as a celebration of being unapologetically herself. For her, personality is what makes each person unique, and she believes it should always be expressed and shared. With a love for making people laugh and doing fun tricks, she brings energy, humor, and confidence into everything she does. Her scroll is a reminder that who you are is something to be proud of—and that joy, laughter, and individuality are meant to shine. 🎶

⚓️ “Anchors Away.” Tracy Duckworth named her scroll Anchors Away, inspired by the anchor pattern she chose and the deep Navy legacy in her family. Her grandfather, father, and husband all served in the Navy, and the anchor has become a powerful symbol in her life, even reflected in her anchor tattoo. For Tracy, anchors represent grounding, stability, and being held steady where you are meant to be. Her scroll honors family, service, and the quiet strength of knowing what keeps you rooted, reminding us that sometimes the very things that hold us down are what help us stay true to ourselves. 🎶

💜💛 “O’Odham Baddie.” Olivia titled her scroll O’Odham Baddie as a bold expression of identity, culture, and self-confidence. As a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation, she chose purple and yellow to represent her people and her roots. Growing up on the reservation, she carried a dream of moving to the city to support Indigenous communities, bringing her experiences with her. The word “baddie” reflects a personal affirmation—a way of holding onto youthfulness, confidence, and beauty at any age. Olivia’s scroll celebrates pride in heritage, strength in self-definition, and the power of carrying where you come from into where you’re going. 🎶

👔 “Dad’s Ties.” John named his scroll in honor of his father, Jean Anger, a man who lived to be 94 and was a profound influence on his life. His dad passed away during COVID, and not being able to see him or say goodbye made the loss especially difficult. As a kid, John always remembered his father’s ties, always solid colors, never flashy, always clip-ons, and a source of playful disagreement with his mom, who wished he’d change them up. When John saw these colors during the Scrollathon, they immediately reminded him of those ties and of his dad, even though this was the last place he expected those memories to surface. Creating this scroll became a quiet, unexpected moment of remembrance and gratitude, and sharing that story with others felt meaningful and grounding. His scroll honors memory, love, and the small details that keep the people we love close long after they’re gone. 🎶

✨ “Ordinary Mystery.” Henry titled his scroll Ordinary Mystery as a reflection on finding meaning in the simple, everyday moments that are often overlooked. For him, there is something powerful in discovering joy and purpose in what might seem ordinary—those small details that bring peace, clarity, and direction. This perspective has helped shape his sense of what he wants to do moving forward: creating and appreciating the value in things people might take for granted. He also reflects on the community around him, especially the diversity, support, and opportunities at his school, which have helped him grow and pursue his goals. Henry’s scroll honors the idea that even the simplest parts of life can hold deep mystery, meaning, and inspiration. 🎶

🪶 “Alter Native Alternative.” Hexi titled their scroll Alter Native Alternative as a powerful statement of presence, identity, and visibility. As a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, they speak to the reality that Native people are not just part of the past—they are here, vibrant, evolving, and deeply woven into contemporary communities. Through art, culture, and connection, they continue to grow, create, and contribute. Their journey includes reconnecting with their roots in Oklahoma, strengthening ties to community and heritage. At the same time, they hold a vision for the nation as a true “melting pot”—where individuality is honored and shared, and where appreciation for one another leads to unity. For Hexi, art is a central force in that vision, a way to bring people together across differences. Their scroll honors identity, resilience, and the enduring presence of Native voices today. 🎶

🎂 “Birthday.” Bonita Ferretti titled her scroll Birthday as a celebration of renewal, reflection, and inclusion. Choosing a full spectrum of colors, she wanted no one to be left out—each color representing a sense of belonging. The title carries a dual meaning: honoring the birthday of the nation through the Scrollathon, and marking her own birthday on November 17th. For Bonita, birthdays are a chance to reset, to reflect, and to begin again with intention. Her scroll captures the joy of fresh starts and the beauty of celebrating both personal and collective milestones. 🎶
