Sunday June 28th, 2026 – 2:00pm at UDC Theater of the Arts

Join the DC Youth Orchestra and Maestro Evan Ross Solomon for a celebratory concert before the talented members of the orchestra depart on a multi-city performance tour of South Africa.

The program includes music of Dvorak, Coleridge-Taylor, and Dello Joio. The concert will feature the world premieres of two works, written for the orchestra for this occasion by DCYO members Kalman Levitin and Raffie McEachin.

One stage. One unforgettable performance. One incredible journey ahead!

Join the DC Youth Orchestra and Maestro Evan Ross Solomon on June 28 at 2 PM at the UDC Theater of the Arts for a free Bon Voyage Concert before our talented young musicians leave for their South Africa summer tour.

This special performance will feature music by Dvorak, Coleridge-Taylor, and Dello Joio, along with the world premieres of two original works written specifically for this occasion by DCYO members Kalman Levitin and Raffie McEachin.

It’s a meaningful afternoon for families, friends, alumni, and supporters to come together and celebrate the incredible work and dedication of these students before they take the international stage.

After the concert, we invite everyone to stay for a reception as we continue the celebration together. Please note that an RSVP is required to attend the reception:

The DC Youth Orchestra Program’s Talent Development Program is officially accepting applications for the 2026–2028 cohort, but the deadline is approaching fast. Applications are due June 12.

TDP is a two-year scholarship program designed for dedicated young musicians ready to grow their artistry, deepen their training, and unlock incredible performance opportunities alongside a community that believes in their potential.

This isn’t just another program. It’s mentorship, intensive musical development, access, opportunity, and a chance to be surrounded by people who will challenge and champion you along the way.

We can’t wait to welcome our musicians back this fall, and of course, meet some new ones too! 💛🎶

-New beginner students are welcome to register now! Get the early bird discount by signing your young musician up at dcyop.org/registration today.

-If you’re a returning DCYOP student, registration links will be sent out by our program staff following end-of-year reviews in late May/early June. Be on the lookout for that email from Tim Provost, Program Manager.

-For intermediate and advanced students new to DCYOP, auditions are coming up this August. It’s a relaxed, supportive way for us to just get to know you and place you in the ensemble that feels like the right fit.

DCYOP's Youth Orchestra, led by Evan Ross Solomon, performs a concert of American music spanning three centuries.

Included is the beloved, An American in Paris, alongside rare works by George Whitefield Chadwick and Norman Dello Joio.

Event is free and open to the public and we invite you to join the concert and celebrate the achievements of our most advanced student musicians.
