One part new play festival, one part writing workshop, one part X-Factor. Scribe Night features readings of five scenes from local playwrights read by professional actors on stage in front of a panel of three theatre professionals and the audience. Each writer submits 5-10 pages of an unpublished work they want feedback on and one question they need answered. The writers are kept anonymous, to enc

ourage fearlessness in their submissions and give a platform for previously unknown playwrights. After each reading comes (loving) judgement! Each one of the three panelists gives their brief feedback. At the end of the night, each panelist picks one play segment to “adopt,” meaning that they’ll give a longer, written feedback to the playwright after the show.

Announcing the return of Scribe Night, a show that's one part play festival, one part X Factor. Five works-in-progress are performed before a panel of experts for their insightful feedback and a chance to be 'adopted' and receive ongoing mentorship.

Our first (online) show is Sunday, Aug 30th!
Submissions will remain open until Fri, Aug 21st.

***CALLING ALL SOCIALLY DISTANCED PLAYWRIGHTS***

Taphouse is now accepting submissions for our quarantined new play festival—SHELTER IN PLACE! We will choose a line-up of brand new, quarantine-inspired work to be presented on a rolling basis in a virtual staged reading format.

THE RULES:
• WRITTEN: now
• INSPIRED BY: now
• RUN TIME: 19 minutes or less

Email submissions (including script, synopsis, and playwright bio) to [email protected]! We are accepting plays on a rolling basis, but our first round deadline is next Friday, April 3rd!

Remember, submissions deadline is on Sept 15th, so get your scripts/headshots/bios in! Submission details are in the event page.

Remember, all scripts should be 10 pages or less, and in Samuel French formatting style!

So many awesome submissions have already been sent in, but keep them coming! If you've already submitted, I'll be reaching out to you within a few weeks of the deadline. You will hear back either way!
