Woodridge is a NE DC neighborhood cozied up to the Maryland line. The DC Office of Planning outlines a long history of blues and jazz in Woodridge stemming from Archie Edwards Barber Shop. The barber shop has moved and Archie has passed but there are Saturday jam sessions and a Blues Heritage foundation keeping the acoustic blues tradition alive that was fostered in this neighborhood. Boasting over 500 single family homes in SE DC, Penn Branch is part of the larger area, Dupont Park. Architectural styles here consist of Federal, Craftsman Bungalows, and MidAtlantic and Tudor Revival Homes. When searching for this door, I noted how quiet and peaceful my walk was. Most people held up a wave as I walked by and it felt like a tight community.
