Why does our team keep getting on planes, trains and automobiles for these warehouse tours? 🤠

Because the best way to understand rental work is to stand in the warehouse where it happens. Last week part of our team spent four days in Dallas–Fort Worth visiting the rental companies who run on Goodshuffle Pro, walking their floors and listening to how they actually work.

Event rental owners rarely get to see how another rental company runs its warehouse. That's why we host warehouse tours.

Each tour opens the doors of a working rental business so other owners can see the systems up close: where returns land, how inventory gets counted, and how sales and the warehouse stay on the same page.

In September, Staging Design DC hosted at their 24,000 sq ft warehouse in Beltsville, Maryland. One habit that stood out: damaged pieces go to a repair area, not a blame conversation.

Every item on your shelves is a tenant. Is it paying rent?

Cam Petty of Render Events runs the warehouse like an apartment complex. Here's the approach:

1. Every product takes up space, and that space costs money every month.
2. Anything that isn't covering its rent gets a 30- or 60-day grace period.
3. Use the grace period to get it renting again: a new photo, a styled shoot, a social post, even a new name.
4. Still sitting after that? Time to let it go.
5. Before you buy something new, list it with the stock photo first. If it rents, buy it.

AAA Party Rental moved the whole thing to tablets a few months ago. The part Ben did not expect: nobody can say they were never told. Every action is logged, so if something did not make it onto the truck, you can see who marked it loaded.

Hardest part was not the software. It was the first month.
