Sadly our Atomic family lost a truly wonderful member this week.
The world got a little less friendly, kind and giving on Monday when our dear friend Kenny Combs passed on.
Kenny was an avid pool player, participating in tournaments, always being a good sport and never not wearing sleeves!
Kenny worked for years as your go to physical plant engineer at Lafayette Elementary School here in D.C. Where he not only did his job at an above the call level but made connections with his coworkers and students that lasted.
Kenny was also a sneaky talented artist! Happy to from time to time show the kids his work as a guest in the classroom and encourage the kiddos and staff to express themselves just for the joy of doing so.
In later years of his life Kenny wasn't as much as a fixture at Atomic. Mobility issues made the stairs a difficulty... despite several offers by staff and others to assist.
Our dear friend is survived by two wonderful grand children who he adored and a remarkably equally wonderful Son who has inherited his father's open heart, gift for gab and work ethic. Not to mention all of us who had a little bit of light shown into our lives by having Kenny as a part of it.
Thank you dear friend.
This world, is a bit less bright for your absence.
Remembrance services will be held at:
DeVol Funeral Home
2222, Wisconsin Ave, NW DC
This Friday from 9-11am.
