The Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center will host the closing night of EuroAsia Shorts 2026 on Friday, June 12. The festival's final program brings together extra-short films from all ten partner countries under this year's theme, Past / Present / Future, followed by a moderated panel with representatives from every partner organization.
Two decades of international cinematic dialogue in Washington come to a close at SQCC, with light international refreshments served before the screening.
Registration opens Thursday, June 5. Admission is free and seating is limited, so reserve early.

On Thursday, May 21, the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center marked the graduation of this year’s Arabic Evening Classes program.
The evening opened with remarks by Ms. Arwa Sawan, Senior Language Officer, followed by remarks from Ms. Sabra Al Hooti, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Oman. Mr. Paul Wulfsberg, Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State, shared his journey in learning Arabic.

The ceremony recognized the accomplishments of learners representing the United States government, diplomatic missions, academic institutions, and prominent American organizations. Their dedication to the study of Arabic reflects a deep respect for the cultural heritage of the Sultanate of Oman and a sincere commitment to advancing meaningful cross-cultural engagement.

The program also featured student performances, including Arabic poetry, dialogues, and presentations, alongside the recognition of instructors and the presentation of certificates to graduating and outstanding students.

Many of these graduates will carry their study of Arabic into future roles in diplomacy, scholarship, and public service.

The Center extends its appreciation to all who took part in this year’s program.

On Thursday, May 21, the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center marked the graduation of this year's Arabic Evening Classes program.

Our Arabic Evening students came together for a special Movie Night, exploring the beauty, heritage, and traditions of Oman through an engaging documentary experience.
This shared learning moment offered students the opportunity to connect language with culture, enhancing their understanding beyond the classroom.
With students across all evening groups in attendance, the evening fostered community, conversation, and a deeper appreciation of Oman as a vibrant part of the Arab world.

As part of the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center Library Lecture Series, SQCC was privileged to host Professor Gábor Ágoston, Professor of History at Georgetown University, for an insightful lecture titled "The Ottoman Empire in Europe".

The event opened with remarks by Mr. Walid Sellal, SQCC Librarian, followed by Professor Ágoston’s exploration of the Ottoman Empire’s long-standing presence in Europe and its wider historical significance across regions.

Organized under the direction of Executive Director Dr. Majid Al-Khalili, the session was attended by guests from embassies, think tanks, universities, and the wider academic and cultural community. The lecture highlighted the Ottoman Empire’s role as a major power connecting Europe, the Middle East, and the wider world, while offering valuable perspectives on its lasting historical legacy.
