We are thrilled to announce our cast for Somewhere Over the Border!

A fresh take on The Wizard of Oz from the co-creator (Brian Quijada) of Off-Broadway hit Mexodus! This timely new musical takes audiences on a journey from El Salvador to the United States featuring cumbia, Mexican mariachi boleros, hip-hop, and more.

Our season kicks off with Somewhere Over the Border in one month!

Dorothy becomes Reina in this fresh take on The Wizard of Oz from Brian Quijada, the award-winning co-creator and star of Mexodus, which premiered at Mosaic ahead of back-to-back Off-Broadway runs. Inspired by the true story of his mother’s immigration in the 1970s, this show takes audiences on a musical journey from El Salvador to America featuring cumbia, Mexican mariachi boleros, rock, hip hop, and more!

Welcome to Season 12!

We’re thrilled to share stories that will make you laugh while you think, challenge in their form, inspire with grace and pride, and center joy to combat the darkness of our times.

The company’s largest subscription offering since the pandemic, the 26-27 Season uses contemporary perspectives to explore American identity. With two world premieres: Natural History and 7th Street Echo, one U.S. premiere: My English Persian Kitchen, and two DC premieres: Somewhere Over the Border and Bad Kreyòl—we are thrilled to bring critically-acclaimed playwrights and directors back to Mosaic and welcome new artists who bring communities together.

And speaking of bringing communities together, we continue our commitment to provide deeper engagement with themes of this season’s programming through our robust Reflection Series, reaching all eight wards of DC. We can’t wait to share what we have in store!
