NEXT WEEK: Film Screening: 10s Across The Border

SCREENING SCHEDULE
Friday, June 12th – 12:30 PM
Saturday, June 13th – 1:30 PM

Set in Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, New York, and beyond, 10S ACROSS THE BORDERS is a bold pan-Asian q***r film that confronts homophobia, transphobia, and racism while celebrating Southeast Asia’s underground ballroom scene. Filmmaker Sze-Wei Chan imagines a world where ballroom communities far from New York can claim their own perfect 10s, redefining excellence, visibility, and belonging on their own terms.

The film follows three standout figures: Teddy, who fled a homophobic father in Malaysia; Xyza, who reclaimed her sense of beauty in the Philippines after rejection from the modeling world; and Sun, born to a Thai s*x worker mother and European father, forging identity through performance. In a surreal finale that cuts between Southeast Asia’s back alleys and New York’s bustling streets, borders of nation, gender, race, religion, and class dissolve. Positioned as Southeast Asia’s answer to Paris Is Burning, the film honors ballroom’s legacy while boldly expanding its map.
