Since our establishment in 1990, the Institute has succeeded in presenting diverse, ongoing cultural programs and has become a thriving artistic center in the heart of Washington, DC. The Mexican Cultural Institute is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that relies on private, corporate, and foundation support to fulfill its mission.

Join us for a two-hour dance workshop exploring improvisation, creative movement, and the development of your own unique movement language!

Led by Mexican dance artist and educator Anniela Huidobro Castro, this workshop invites participants to explore movement in an open, playful, and expressive environment. Open to dancers of all levels and body types. No previous experience in improvisation is required.

Her versatility, natural improvisational skills and beautiful tone has made her one of the top Latin artists in New York City.

made its Washington, D.C. premiere last night at the Festival! 🎬

We were honored to meet director, screenwriter, and producer Jonás Cuarón and to hear him speak in the post-screening Q&A about his bold, visually striking story of love, resilience, and transnational identity that follows a Mexican immigrant overcoming internal and external barriers to find his own place.

Starring Juan Daniel García Treviño, Leslie Grace, Rubén Blades, Eddie Marsan, Rosario Dawson, and Cheech Marin, the film won the Audience Award at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival and will open the upcoming Morelia International Film Festival.

Thank you to everyone who filled the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center and stayed for our reception.

Remember, the festival runs through October 7, and Campeón Gabacho has one more screening on Tuesday, October 6 at 9:20 PM. Get your tickets!

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a full day of food, live music and dancing throughout Union Market’s La Cosecha from 12:00PM to 5:00PM, featuring dance performances, family-friendly activities and cultural experiences led by Latin American embassy partners, including, of course, Mexico! 🇲🇽

Join Mexican chefs Alam Méndez of Apapacho Taqueria, Isabel Coss of Pascual and Christian Irabien of Amparo Fondita, Alfredo Solis of Mezcalero, alongside La Cosecha partners Daniella Senior, founder of Elegancia and Colada Shop, Miguel Guerra of Donisima, Fernando Gonzalez of 2Fifty BBQ, and Frio Frio.
