๐Ÿ“ข Artopia is going live!! We are so excited to start our series of events with writer , on the one year anniversary of the publication of her debut novel, Daughters of Silence. Hosted by ArtopiaDC member and events organizer .alem ๐Ÿค— More about our guest: Rebecca Fisseha is of the novel Daughters of Silence (2019, Goose Lane Editions ). Her stories, essays, and articles appear in Selamta, Room Magazine, The Maple Tree Literary Supplement, Aesthetica Magazine, The Rusty Toque, Joyland, Lithub, Medium, and most recently Addis Ababa Noir. Born in Ethiopia, Rebecca currently lives in Toronto. Rebeccaโ€™s writings explore the unique and universal aspects of the Ethiopian diaspora experience. She was named one of Six Canadian Writers of Black Heritage to Watch in 2020 by CBC Books (). Daughters of Silence was listed by the Canadian publishing industry magazine Quill & Quire () as one of the breakout debuts of 2019, and was one of Margaret Atwoodโ€™s two picks for the Readers and Writers Festival Spotlight Series.

Three more days!! Last but absolutely not least, our final featured storyteller of the night: Chuckwunonso Angel Dureke!

Chuckwunonso is the Founder, President & CEO of Dureke Productions, LLC., a multimedia production house & creative agency.

She is a , and with years of experience in strategic storytelling, consulting, social media management, and concept creation.
She earned a Bachelors of Science in Mass Communications from Towson University and a Masters of Fine Arts from Howard University in film, writing, producing and directing tracks. As a multimedia producer with a creative agency, she has successfully produced several bodies of work, amongst them are "Plantain and Proverbs" streaming live now on Amazon Prime Video and selected for Amazon's 1st All Voice's Film Festival; "Bride Price" the Inaugural 1st place $30,000 shorts Pitch Competition Winner for the Annapolis Film Festival ; "AGE" a shirt film , and "The Black Code Project" a feature documentary shot on an i-phone.
