For 12 years, the DC Shorts Film Festival has presented the best short films from around the globe. Now, watch the ones that did not make the cut in an interactive evening of jeering in misery - and cheering for victory.

A selection of rejected films will play to our enthusiastic (and hopefully tipsy) audience. At the 3-minute mark, a light will shine and the audience may jeer to stop watching any more, or cheer to save the film for later consideration. At the end of the evening, one lucky film will be saved and programmed into September's main festival.

Enjoy drink specials and delicious food offerings. And take advantage of a special ticket discount for the 2015 DC Shorts Film Festival this September 10-20.

SpeakeasyShorts is a new type of film competition – a collaboration between filmmakers and storytellers. Eight filmmaking teams have only 5 days to write, shoot, edit-and screen a film based on stories from eight local storytellers. The kicker: none of the teams know anything about the stories before they are presented.

On November 14, filmmaking teams will discover which story they have been paired with — and have five days to create a short film (less than 8 minutes) based on a true tale. The films premiere November 22 — the audience votes for their favorites — and one team walks away with a $1,000 cash prize!

Are you a filmmaker that wishes to compete? Complete the form at http://dcshorts.com/speakeasyshorts/
