Happy Earth Day! 🌎

Sharing this moment from Madre, a celebration of our great planet and home.

It was a dream to bring this work to life with our brilliant collaborators Antonio Arrebola, Ricardo Marlow, and Yolit Yospe-Kachlon, and an immense privilege to share it with you.

Sending love to all fellow earthlings 💚
May we care for our great Mother more each day.
We belong to her - ashes to ashes, dust to dust, and in between, our collective breath 🌬️

Muchas gracias to Cristabel for capturing this experience with us, and to our incredible community whose support made this work possible 🙏🏾

We went to see Sara Baras’ Vuela at New York City Center for the 25th Flamenco Festival.
Saw the Saturday night performance and wow - the company delivered a beautiful, hair-raising tribute to el maestro Paco de Lucía. Classic, powerful Sara Baras brought the aire from Cádiz. So worth the trip!

Aaand we got to spend the rest of the weekend with Ela’s best friend of 30+ years. Old friends + jaw-dropping flamenco = the best kind of weekend ❤️

Yay for brighter days ☀️ We shared more news about upcoming shows with our email list this week. If you missed it, take a look in your spam 👀 More updates coming soon 📧

We’re so excited to introduce Sin Fin - our new full-length work that moves through life, death, and regeneration. A cycle without end. The piece takes us on a journey of returning - to begin again.

Sin Fin follows the solstices and equinoxes, mirroring our inner landscapes - from the stillness of winter to the fullness of summer, from descent to emergence - returning to familiar spaces yet arriving transformed.

Meet the Artists! ✨

“… and here he is - last, but definitely not least - my dear and great friend Ricardo Marlow.

I’ve known Ricardo for many years, he’s been a companion through countless challenges and adventures. And we’re immensely grateful for the music he has poured into every work of SonDeBaril since day one.

His flawless technique, powerful ex*****on, and deep knowledge of flamenco guitar make Ricardo Marlow one of the most accomplished and respected guitarists in the United States. We’re so lucky to have him right here with us in the DMV flamenco community and it’s our tremendous honor to have him be part of our special celebration ✨

Thank you, brother! 🙏🏼💙😊

We’re ready for this Sunday! 🥳🎶 Ahí nos vemos!”

Meet the Artists! ✨

We’re thrilled to share that Estela Vélez de Paredez & Daniel Paredez will be performing with us this Sunday! 🔥🔥

As Founder & Artistic Director and Assistant Director of Furia Flamenca Dance Company, Estela and Daniel have brought their ensemble to major stages across the region, as well as the Teatro Nacional Rubén Darío in Nicaragua and El Centro de Bellas Artes in Puerto Rico.

Estela, born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, refined her artistry through intensive training with Maestro Antonio Santaella of Granada, Spain. Her choreographies have been featured in the area’s prestigious showcases. Daniel began dancing flamenco in 2006 with Estela, shortly becoming soloist with the company, and later performing with the Washington National Opera.

Both dancers have also trained in ballet, modern, jazz, and tap. Over the past two decades, they’ve contributed enormously to the growth of our local flamenco community - presenting flamenco to new audiences, and providing many opportunities for dancers to grow through performances, classes, and workshops across the DC Metro area.

We’re excited to gather with our flamenco community in the DMV to celebrate our 3-year anniversary on December 7! 🌹 See you this Sunday! 🥳
