BLEU Opera Artistic Board members spotted at Treemonisha tonight at WNO! What a wonderful evening of singing, artistry, and powerful music.

From left to right: Founder and Artistic Director Ronald Trey Walton, Madame President Yvette Spears, and Artistic Board Member Jarrod Lee.

This inspiring production of Treemonisha by Scott Joplin, arranged and adapted by Damien Sneed with additional text by Kyle Bass, was truly a special experience. We were also honored to meet Patrick Delaney, husband of the beloved Carmen Balthrop, whose magnificent artistry helped introduce the world to this work during its premiere with Houston Grand Opera.

It was also a touching moment meeting the beautiful sister of the late and legendary Jessye Norman, whose voice and presence will forever grace our hearts and the world of opera. Tonight felt like a celebration of legacy—remembering the brilliance of Carmen Balthrop and Jessye Norman, two extraordinary artists whose voices, grace, and devotion to the art form continue to inspire generations. Their light still shines through the music we cherish and the community they helped build.

A beautiful night celebrating legacy, excellence, and the enduring power of opera. 🎶✨

So…… we received over 105 emails for our Dream Recital Series 😳🎶

First came “WOW” from the board…
then a very real “oh boy 😅” from our Executive Artistic Director .

Because of the overwhelming response, Bleu Opera Company has decided to close submissions on February 25, 2026.

✨ The 6 artists selected for our Season 3 will be announced on March 15.
