Held & Honored!

Join .art & .gallery for Held & Honored Workshop!

In this hands-on workshop, participants will create a small handwoven basket or offering vessel using natural raffia fibers. Baskets are among the oldest technologies across Africa and the African diaspora—used to gather food, carry goods, hold offerings, and preserve daily life. Through simple, repetitive weaving techniques, participants will explore basketry as both a practical craft and a meditative practice rooted in care, patience, and ancestral knowledge. The workshop centers slowness, touch, and intention, inviting participants to reflect on what they choose to hold, honor, or release.
Participants will leave with a completed basket that can be used as an offering vessel, catchall, or personal altar object.
What You’ll Learn
*Basic coiling or wrap-weaving techniques using raffia
*How baskets function as cultural, ceremonial, and everyday objects
*Weaving as a grounding, therapeutic practice
*How intention and repetition transform materials into meaningful vessels

🌸Join me at Flowers and Friends Workshop!

Hands-on weaving experience where participants will hand-weave small sculptural vases using naturally hand-dyed raffia and add dried flowers when you’re finished!

This hands-on weaving workshop invites participants to slow down and explore the art of hand-weaving small sculptural vases using naturally hand-dyed raffia. Designed as a welcoming, co-ed experience, the workshop is open to all skill levels and all ages (excluding children), making it an accessible and meaningful creative gathering.

Participants will be guided through simple, meditative weaving techniques that emphasize patience, touch, and experimentation with natural materials. Each attendee will create a one-of-a-kind woven vessel and finish their piece with a curated selection of dried florals, which will be provided as part of the workshop. The dried flowers can be arranged directly into the vase, creating a finished object that reflects both personal expression and the quiet beauty of plant-based materials. Don’t worry if you don’t finish your vase. You will still leave with a completed piece and materials to take home and finish at your own time.

This experience is as much about the process as the final piece—offering a moment to unplug, connect with others, and engage in mindful making. Guests will leave with a handmade vase, a dried floral arrangement, and a deeper appreciation for slow craft and natural design.

Please arrive on time, and feel free to bring your own food and beverages to enjoy during the workshop.

2025 taught me new weaving techniques and new emotional techniques. I learned that real confidence doesn’t announce itself. It knows when to let go.
