Our music arranger for Conversations has her album coming out, and it’s available on Kickstarter until November 8! She is one of the most talented song writers and singers I know- I’ve been to two of her concerts and heard many a early draft, and it’s all magic and gets to my core every time. Check out her Kickstarter to pre order her album, and get some extra perks too!!

Although we have closed, you can check out the amazing places to go still that we’re featured in our program! First, Caffe Amouri is located in Vienna Virginia and features some of the best coffee in the entire DMV area. I have come here since I was little- it was within walking distance of the softball fields and I loved the atmosphere! I actually came here last year and wrote a large part of Conversations here- it is my favorite writing spot as well! Check them out, they also have music events that are wonderful!

Although last night was their closing, we have to give a huge shout out to and for an incredible show. Pride of Doves was one of the most innovative and unique pieces of theatre I’ve ever seen and I enjoyed every second of it. I really can’t wait to see where this show goes next, it was so so good! ❤️

As our final performance of Conversations at Capital Fringe comes tonight, I wanted to take the time to thank these two incredible women. This show could not have happened without them. When I was planning to do this show, I contacted Clancey back in the fall because of an instinct I had that she would be the right director for this show. My instinct was correct- she has given so much time and energy and love to this play. Whether it was sending me edits in the middle of winter, to walking around DC just sharing our stories together, or rehearsing in her living room. The work you see on stage is hers as well and I could not have had a better director and person to be head of this project.

Julia and I met at Kenyon when I was just a freshmen. I worked with her many times where I saw her dedication and focus on detail, and it made her extremely successful at Kenyon. After we graduated, I saw her work for other DC companies and bring that same dedication and love of the art to it. She has given so much work and time to this project and I cannot be more grateful. Whether it was mixing the sound, painting the chair, meeting me to run lines, or giving me a hug every night after I perform- Julia is there. She is the most talented stage manager I’ve ever had the luck to work with.

These two women have been in my Conversations team the past few months and I am going to miss this show and working with them so much. I love you so much Clancey and Julia ❤️

And if you want to see our last show, it is tonight at 7:15! We are over 50% sold so get your tickets soon! @ Capital Fringe Festival

Thank you to our absolutely incredible audience yesterday! And now we turn to other productions in the area that are doing bold incredible work. This Monday we are attending the Industry Night of The Welders’ Lady M, running through July 27. Come join us!

LadyM pits the poetic and absurdist lives of the modern, menstruating woman against the themes, characters, and language in Shakespeare’s Macbeth to explore blood, ambition, sorcery as power, and violence. Delving into the deep, dark, and bloody traditions of women’s stigmatized bodies, we push these difficult issues through the lens of grotesque comedy in this highly stylized, absurdist, and radical feminist bloodbath.

And now introducing our incredible director Clancey Yovanovich! This show would not be what it is without her, and her dedication and talent has been so key to this process. Just as a reminder- we have a show tonight at 8:00, and you can eat two tickets for $24 including service fee! Then our closing is next Friday at 7:15 PM.

Clancey is a proud American University grad, and a local director, producer, and actor. Most recently, she assisted Aaron Posner on ACA’s As You Like It, served as co-producer for Keegan Theatre’s WOMXN ON FIRE Festival, and directed Chani Wereley‘s solo cabaret, Hard Times. She is honored to be on the Conversations team, and to have helped bring this beautiful story to life. Thanks go to the Swagden Crew (including Anna!) for their love and support throughout this process - and for always letting me transform our home into a rehearsal studio...
