Al Green, a Democratic Representative from Texas, has announced his intention to force a vote on impeaching President Donald Trump. This action is part of his ongoing efforts to remove Trump from office.

United States Representative Al Green (D-Texas) cites specific concerns regarding the actions of federal immigration officers, which he believes have led to the deaths of U.S. citizens. He argues that these actions pose a significant threat to democracy and the Constitution.

Green introduced a privileged resolution, which requires the House to consider the impeachment vote within two legislative days.

The House is expected to hold a vote on this measure by the end of the day on Wednesday.

The main limitation is that House impeachment alone does not remove a president. Current reporting indicates Republicans control the House and are likely to control or heavily influence the Senate, making conviction difficult. Democrats themselves have worried that an impeachment push could backfire by allowing Republicans to portray them as focused on removing President Trump rather than on the U.S. economy and cost of living.

This impeachment effort comes as Democrats prepare for the upcoming midterm elections, where they aim to regain control of Congress. Green's previous attempts to impeach Trump have faced challenges, including a lack of support from some Democratic colleagues.

If this impeachment effort is successful, the Democrats might benefit.

Democrats could weaken Trump politically. Even without conviction, sustained hearings could damage his approval ratings or create divisions among Republicans—especially if the evidence is compelling and bipartisan.

So the biggest likely Democratic benefit would be political and institutional rather than immediate policy control: mobilizing voters, documenting alleged wrongdoing, and forcing Republicans to defend or distance themselves from Trump. If the effort is seen as partisan or unsupported by strong evidence, however, it could instead strengthen Trump’s base and help Republicans.

Green's resolution cites what it calls the "unjustified" killings by federal immigration officers of Renée Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, among other issues.

The resolution says President Trump is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors for "failing to uphold his constitutionally mandated solemn presidential oath of office to 'preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States,' thereby demonstrating that he is a great threat to democracy."

Rep. Green, whose previous efforts to impeach President Trump failed, lost his Democratic primary runoff in Texas's 18th District to Rep. Christian Menefee (D-TX) in May.

The lights temporarily recreate the Twin Towers in the night sky, serving as a poignant tribute and reminder of the tragedy.

Sky Elements is the largest drone light show provider in the United States, known for creating custom drone light shows for events, brands, and major organizations. They have flown 60% of all known U.S. drone shows and hold 17 Guinness World Record titles.
