U of M study finds trumpets are "highest-risk instrument"

“bell barriers”—essentially masks that cover the instruments’ bells and block the passage of aerosol particles. A single-layer blocked 60 percent of particles without much change to instruments’ sound, but a 92 percent reduction through three layers meant a significant sacrifice in sound quality.” (excerpt from study linked below)

A new study from the U of M found that aerosols emitted by wind instruments don’t spread far. For the Minnesota Orchestra, that’s excellent news.
