In a breathtaking moment at Churchill Downs, Cherie DeVaux shattered barriers and made history as the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby. On May 2, 2026, her horse, Golden Tempo, surged to a thrilling victory at 23-1 odds, crossing the finish line in 2:02.27 for the grueling 1¼-mile race.

One angry decision changed snack food forever.
In 1853, George Crum was a cook at a restaurant in Saratoga Springs, New York. A customer sent back his fried potatoes and said they were too thick and not crispy enough.
George got angry. He sliced the potatoes as thin as he possibly could, fried them until hard, and covered them with a lot of salt. He hoped the customer would dislike them.
Instead, the customer loved the thin, salty potatoes and asked for more. Other diners tried them and liked them too.
Soon these new potatoes became popular and spread. They became known as potato chips.
Today people around the world eat billions of packets every year. All because of one cook’s moment of frustration.
